On the TI30X IIB the negative symbol is located one button to the right of the decimal place, just below the number 3.
To enter a negative number press the negative symbol "(-)" whose location was described above and then enter the positive form of the number. You will see the negative symbol on the screen indicating that the number is negative.

Why can't I multiply negative numbers on my El-520x???

Make sure you use the +/- key (located just to the right of the decimal point key) to enter a negative number, not the - key (to the right of the + key, used to subtract one value from another).

For example, press +/- 4 / +/- 3 = to divide -4 by -3 .

Negative numbers with even exponents on casio fx-115es

When you push the change sign (-) button, a number button, and any even power it returns a negative value.

In other words if you type -4^2 it will treat it like this:

-(4)^2 = -16

Even though any number to an even exponent should be even. To get around this any time you have an even power on a negative number type it like this.

(-4)^2 = 16

How to fix error mesage on TI-30Xa. Every time I press LOG an error sign comes up. how do i fix this?

To take the log of a number, enter the number then press the LOG button, then the =. To take the log of a negative number, enter the negative number using the +/- key just to the right of the decimal point. To calculate the negative of a log, calculate the log and then negate it using +/-. To calculate the antilog (inverse logarithm), press 2nd then LOG.

Bear in mind that LOG is the common (base-10) logarithm. For the natural (base-e) logarithm, use the LN key to its right.

I want to do subtraction. But when I enter the "

There's a negative button and a minus button. I think you're accidently pressing the negative button. The actual subtraction button is the red "-" button above the "+" button. I hope this helps, but if all else fails, you can always add a negative!
