Question about Sony Gran Turismo 5 for PlayStation 3

1 Answer

I had my PS3 hooked up to an HDTV for awhile and then along the way I had to move back to normal 480i video output settings as my TV is no longer up and running due to catastrophic failure in which we'll leave at that. Anyways all my other games work and the video settings for them were reset but now when I run Gran Turismo 5 the video settings are still in the HD resolution and everything is hard to see... What do I do?... HELP!!!

Ensure you have returned the PS3 video output system setting to 480i vs the 720/1080 setting. Regular TV will give you a black screen at the higher resolutions.

Cant get hdmi for ps3 to work on my jvc hd 52g887

Had same problem with Panasonic PT60LC14 tv when connecting by HDMI cord to my PS3 and a blue ray disc was playing. First, read your tv manual to see what video inputs it supports . Then read the PS3 online manual (section on "video output settings").

For me I found out that my tv only supported 1080i (along with 480i/p, 780p) and the ps3 manual says blue ray outputs 1080p, so my blue ray discs will not play on my tv according to the PS3 manual. PS3 manual says to restart the ps3 (power off, then power on and HOLD for 5 seconds) - then the standard video output settings should be reset. Hopefully the ps3 menu will pop up at least. I haven't tried this yet but if it doesn't work, i'll may try to reset PS3 video out settings manually first using another tv that works with it ..

You need to reset your video settings when you move to a regular TV. Just hold down the power button, it will beep twice and go back to stand by mode. They boot up again and your video setting should be back to normal ( for standard TV).
