Go here: http://www.answersthatwork.com/Download_Area/ATW_Library/Networking/Network__4-List_of_default_Router_Admin_Passwords_and_IP_addresses.pdf . On that list you can find your default router IP, type this IP into your web browser to access your router, use your login (one you made, or the default) to access the router, from there go to your wireless settings and ensure that you have a password set. If the router does not have wireless than there will be no way for people to access it without being connected directly to it, although you can change your router password to prevent kids or other houseguests from modifying router settings. Hope this helps

I assume that you have a wireless router that is connected to your Motorola cable-modem.

Connect to the web-server "inside" the router, and configure the wireless network:
* set an SSID -- the "name" for your network
* set an encryption-level -- use 'WPA' or 'WPA2'
* set a password for your network

Now, your wireless communications between your computer and your router will be encrypted, i.e., "secure".

Also, having a password keeps other computers out, if their owners do not know the password.

The signal from my router to my Samsung blu ray is not strong enough

There are several things you need to consider with wireless connection:
Distance - How far is the Netgear router from the Samsung Blu ray? Try changing the wireless channel on the Netgear router that can help boost the signal. Wireless Security- Have you enabled wireless security on the router? Is it WEP or WPA? Make sure that you input the wireless security key on the Blu Ray player and that you have setup wireless settings correctly.Number of wireless devices - Check the number of wireless devices(laptops, desktops, pda's, etc) connecting to the router as it also weakens the signal. And if wireless security is not enabled on your Netgear router, there's a chance that your neighbor might be connecting to your router via wireless.
You can also test how strong the signal is by placing a wireless laptop on the same location where the blu ray player is. If the laptop gets a weak signal as well, you can try placing the router closer to the blu ray player.

Printer will not print. The red light is flashing on the WI-FI Icon. Can't get it to green. Printer is blocked.

The wireless communication problem could be caused by several factors - wireless signal quality, signal interference, firewall, etc. Make sure to allow full access to all Lexmark printer communication and printer processes in the program rules/permissions for your firewall.
Place your printer where it receives excellent wireless signal quality and away from other electronic devices which can cause wireless interferences (e.g. cordless phones, microwave ovens, baby monitors, garage door openers, and other wireless electronics).
Make sure to enter the correct encryption code if your wireless network is secured.

I have a Linksys wap54g wireless router and it has just started dropping the signal. My DSL modem that it is connected to is working fine. I have powered off and reset multiple times but without much...

If you recently started using cordless phones that use the 2.4GHz frequency spectrum, this can cause your WiFi signals to drop-out.
Other forms of interference can come from:
  • Microwave ovens
  • Bluetooh enabled devices
  • Other nearby WiFi routers/APs using the same channel
Additionally, if you haven't secured your router using WPA/WPA2 security, a neighbor may be leeching off of your WiFi network and download files on P2P networks. This would cause your router to become saturated with traffic and appear to crash. Make sure that your router is properly secured with WPA/WPA2 security (not WEP, since it can be cracked within a few minutes) and make sure that you change the admin password.

I was told via the internet that i could hook up my Samsung blu ray player using this wireless adapter I can not get it to work, I have a Belkin wireless router that i was hoping it would recognize it and...

I would first remove the Security off the router completely and then make sure the device can connect without any
security - IF it connects OK, then at least you know the wireless works all OK with the device Next, add the security back on, - Make sure the device does support the type of security you are using - WPA2 needs
special hardware to work - so you could start with WEP, or WPA It may also be a conflict with other wireless signals - like cordless phones, although, I would suspect that effects all
devices - But it maybe worth changing the wireless cahnnel used in the router - to avoid interference download and run
this program on a PC http://www.xirrus.com/library/wifitools.php Then run the program - If you get an error - You need [URL="http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?
FamilyId=333325FD-AE52-4E35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en"]NET Framework[/URL] installed for the WiFi Inspector to
function. Look at the wireless signals in your area and what channel they are using and the strength of the signal - where possible
try to use channel 1 or 6 or 11, as they do not overlap other channels If still an issue please comment back, and i will look into further

My neighor stealing my signal

You need to encrypt your wireless signal. Here are some instructions for getting in to your router's control panel.

Once you manage to log in, find the firewall region or wireless security region. Make sure to encrypt your wireless connection with the WPA-PSK authentication method using the TKIP encryption. Make sure to write down your pass-phrase, as you will need it to connect to your wireless connection.

Wireless

Make sure your wireless receiver is turned on, usually it's just a switch or a button that has an image of an antenna with signal lines.

Once you're sure, right click on the wireless signal icon down in the lower right hand portion of your computer desktop and right click.

Select view available wireless networks, then choose yours from the list, click connect and enter the necessary information about your network's security.

If you don't see your network name then there is another problem.
