How can you tell if your 2000 F350 dually has dual alternator, secondly i just replace the primary battery and secondary hold a charge, today the truck will not start the dome lights went out as i begin to...

Did you put a battery of equal or larger cranking amps, if you have dual alts it would be very noticable as you would see 2 alternators. You may also need to replace the other battery also, as this is not a primary and secondary batteries but equal batteries.

Battery light came on on my way home from work have super duty 250 diesel 03

Most of the time, the battery light means that the alternator is not charging,or not charging enough.Have it checked,or check it yourself, using a volt meter, attach it to the battery, either one of them, the reading you are looking for is,13.65,to 14.25,volts.Do this with the engine running, and the head lights on,and the ac on,high blower .If it reads any less, the alternator is not charging correctly,or not at all.Check the plug in on the alternator, and the large wire on the back of the alternator,to make sure it is tight, they will vibrate loose on a diesel. If all this checks out o k,then replace the alternator.Charge the batteries up all the way with a slow 2 amp trickle charger, this may take a couple of days to charge, but the slow charge is worth it,it will prolong the battery life, and have less load on the alternator,I hope this was helpful, and thank you for using fix ya!

If you have changed the alternator and regulator, about all that could be left would either be a short circuit that is draining current away, or a bad ignition warning light bulb. That is because the power to energize the field of the alternator, comes through this dash bulb.

84 ford F350 6.9 diesel charging system not charging batterys new alt,New voltage regulator, new positive and negative wires,

look for a fusible link out. You need to check for output on the alternator that you installed. make sure the batteries are fully charged before that, otherwise its not going to read right. start from the source. also, you can disconnect the batteries from the sys and do a continuity check on the wires in the loom, so you can see if current has a path, or if you have an open circuit. hope this helps

you may have a bad plug wire to the back of the alternator you can test that with a light tester but when you replace a alternator in a diesel at start up it takes about 35 secands before the unit will kick on

actually the only thing i can recomend is to have the alternator replace again for warranty and before starting the truck charge the batteries very well with a baterie charger make sure to charge them individually because with a low batterie the alternator has to put a lot of load and might burnt again
specially with dual batterie.
