Card error when i place SD card into slot

Are you sure it's an SD card, 2GB or smaller? The 5386 won't work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

I just bought a 4 GB memory card for my camera and I cannot get it to take it. I tried to format it and it will not allow me. Any suggestions?

The 5386 works with MMC and SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it is electronically incompatible. You need to use cards 2GB and smaller.

Says Card Error

Make sure your camera can take San Disk. It probably takes a certian card or the SD card might be upside down. Some brand and models stay this fault and the problem with the SD is that it does not accept a memory card higher than 1GB. This info isn't in the user guide. Have you tried an external usb card reader?

Pull the card out and re-insert. the most likely problem is the card was not seated properly in the slot.

Keep us updated.

I turned my camera on and I can't take or deleate any pics, it says my cared is locked. What does this mean?

Take the memory card out of your camera and look at it. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

If that doesn't work, try another card.

Vivitar 5386 says works with xp but doesn't say

Is the little switch down on the SD card in lock mode. If so move it in the direction of the connection of the card and try again.

CAMERA READS -CARD ERROR-AFTER INSERTING A NEW MEMORY CARD

First, make sure that the new memory card does not have the protect tab in the lock position. The new card must be unlocked and formatted before your camera will be able to use it. Also, make sure that the size card that you have purchased has not over shot the ability of your camera. I think that a 2 GB card is as large as you can use. Just because the card fits into the slot does not mean that the camera will address it!

Vivicam 5386 copying images to memory card

To copy pictures from memory to your memory card turn your camera on and press the button above the menu button. This will start showing the pictures already on your memory card. Next, press menu and the down arrow. This down arrow is located on the round button with the "OK" in the center. Your choices should be DELETE, SLIDE SHOW, PROTECT, QUALITY CHANGE, RESIZE, and the one that you want,COPY TO CARD. Press OK and the camera will copy pictures from internal memory to the memory card. This information is on page EN-62 and EN-63. I know that this works because I was testing the information as I was typing it!
