SOURCE: Z force 48 in. cub Cadet mower starts but dies

Check the wires to the seat switch. Under the seat you should find 2 wires connected to the seat. Unplug them, and use a jumper on the end that goes into the body of the mower. Try it again, and if it works, replace your seat.

SOURCE: Cub Cadet-Blades won't stay engaged

sounds like either a saftey switch problem or a bad drive clutch on the pto. usuallly the mower shuts down, not the blades, they may have changed this though. my best guess would be a safety sensor try calling your local cub dealer and talking to the repair person he can shed light on the problem.

I believe the problem is a safety feature which is connected through the RMC, like the seat switch, just do a search for RMC on this PDF Manual it will show you how to check and what does what, Hope it helps and Good Luck Tim:

Quits running

It sounds to me as if the issue lies in the safety switches somewhere. More times than not it is in the seat switch, the reason I saw this is on most models as long as the brake is set you can get off the machine without it dieing but if the brake is not on and you get off the seat it will die. If the switch is not working this would explain why the unit dies once you take the brake off. I hope this is helpful.
