Question about Ryobi Garden

1 Answer

Replacement of fuel lines - I bought hoses but 1 plastic connector under fuel tank broke off and the other one was missing. Do both hoses get connected to an insert, or does one get shoved into the hole in the tank? Do I have to replace the tank since I cannot see how these connector/inserts can be attached?/

There are two lines, one is a little bigger then the other. The bigger one that goes into the larger hole in the tank is connected to a filter that is inside the tank, the little one is just inserted into the tank, it is like a breather tube when you prime and run the machine. Of course they are both connected to the prime bulb. Hope this helped Tim

I have a fuel leak at the quick connect on top of the fuel tank under the rear seat. I have replaced the fuel line and it still leaks. There is a plastic piece on top of the tank, should that be replaced...

I solved a similar problem with a Nissan. Under rear seat is a plate. Remove plate and you find the plastic delivery and return pipes with clip on connectors. Ideally you buy and replace there connectors but here in Africa they were not available. I simply cut off the pipe as close to the connector as possible. Then heated the end in boiling water and pressed it over the connector male side. It cools and shrinks and never leaked since. If I had a hose clamp, I would have added that for extra security because the delivery pipe is under high pressure from the electric pump in the tank( fuel injection models) most Japanese cars have very similar configurations and this plan can generally be made to worl

How do we replace the fuel pump in a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu?

Welcome to Fixya

Here's the procedure on how to install/replace fuel pump for your Chevy malibu.

•1
Raise the rear of the vehicle and place jack stands under the pinch welds on the lower body rocker panel. There are reinforced areas here that are designed to support the weight of the vehicle. Lower the car onto the jack stands and remove the floor jack. Unscrew the fuel filler cap to help relieve pressure that builds up in the tank due to fuel evaporation.
•2
Disconnect the plastic fuel lines leading from the tank to the front of the vehicle by pushing in on the line while depressing the quick disconnect fittings. Unplug the vapor return line and the fuel pump's electrical connector. Remove the fuel filler neck hose by loosening the hose clamps with a screwdriver and prying the hose loose with a large pry bar.
•3
Remove the two rubber exhaust system hangers located near the rear of the exhaust. This will allow the exhaust to move when removing the fuel tank. Remove the metal heat shield from the bottom of the car.
•4
Place the floor jack under the fuel tank, with a large flat piece of wood between the jack and the tank, and lift the tank slightly. This will take the weight of the tank off the straps attaching the tank to the undercarriage of the car. Remove the straps holding the tank to the body of the car, and lower the fuel tank. Slide the fuel tank past the exhaust system, and out from underneath the car.
•5
Remove the fuel pump assembly by turning the spring-loaded retaining ring with the hammer and chisel. Lift the whole assembly out of the fuel tank by lifting the assembly up and then rotating it over to clear the level sensor arm. Unsnap the top, and separate the plastic housing to gain access to the fuel pump. Remove the fuel pump electrical connector, and remove the pump from the assembly by pushing the pump up and over until it clears the assembly.
•6
Install the new pump into the assembly using the new rubber coupler and the new vibration cushion supplied with the pump. Plug the electrical connector into the new pump, and snap the two halves of the plastic housing back together. Install the assembly back into the tank, and rotate the spring-loaded retainer using the hammer and chisel.
•7
Reposition the tank under the car, and lift the tank into place with the floor jack. Install and tighten the retaining straps, heat shield and filler neck hose clamps. Reinstall the exhaust system hangers. Plug the electrical connector back into the assembly. Reconnect the fuel lines and vapor line.
•8
Lower the vehicle off the jack stands and prime the fuel system by cycling the ignition key from off to run a few times. Start the engine and check for leaks

Where is the fuel pump in a 86 lincoln town car located

inside the gas tank, and also onthe driver side frame rail under the car under the driver door hindge inside the frame rail with a plastic cover over it held on with a hose clamp and held to the frame with a self threading bolt that has a 13MM head. has a fuel line ( plastic ) comingout ofboth ends and a 2 wire electrical connector. The tank pump is in the front side of the tank and with the car jacked up by the body it's just above the rear axel and can be removed with the tank still mounted to the car.. The tank needs to be level and less than 1/2 full orr the fuel will come out as the tank is opened. some cars have only the tank pump, and none on the frame.

I am replacing the fuel tank assy and purge bulb (i.e. primer) on my Sears Craftsman model 358.798940. The original plastic tubing was old and brittle and broke apart while disassembling, so I could not...

The order of fuel travel should be:
Fuel filter to fuel hose to Carb's Fuel Supply nipple. (On the main body of the carb)
Primer Plate Nipple on carb to fuel hose to Suction Nipple on Primer Bulb. (It must pull fuel thru the carb, not push)
Pressure Nipple on Primer Bulb to fuel hose to Fuel Tank Return hose.

When correctly installed, the fuel will be PRESSED into the fuel tank via the return hose when primer is pressed in . . . and SUCTIONED out of the tank and into the Carburetor when primer in released.

Hope this helps,
Dolf-

On weedeater blower and vac gas line is broke from carb into tank does it just connect to fuel filter in tank model 1925

Yes if your asking about the fuel line yes it hooks to the filter out thru the wall of the gas tank straight into the carb. if it broke out side the tank you can try a smaller plastic hose to stick inside to reconnect the two parts. if it broke inside the tank try to replace as one hose.

I broke one of the connectors while changing a fuel filter. The two hoses that run to the rear of the van,I took the front one off,But when I tried to remove the back one the plastic connector broke on me....

Relieve system pressure. Disconnect battery negative cable. Drain fuel down as much as you can, support tank and lower/loosen straps to get access to pump & see what your missing or what broke. May be just retainer clip.

Fuel Line Leak, Need Advice

the metal line is part of the fuel pump. if the line is that fragile it should just be replaced. what if it broke and left you stranded somewhere. the fuel tank might look rusty but it's probably just surface rust.
