Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
The only thing I can suggest in this case is to download the update from the playstation website onto an external usb flash drive. You need to make a directory on the flash drive called PS3, then within that directory another called UPDATE. Put the downloaded update file within the update file. Next prepare your PS3 for updating via safe mode. Do the following -
Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)
Press and hold the power button until the PS3 turns back off into standby (It will have beeped 3 times while you were holding the power button)
Press and hold the power button again until you hear 2 quick beeps together.
Connect your controller via usb and press the PS button
A menu will load, choose option 6, and select external media. Follow the on screen prompts to install the update from the flash drive.
Hopefully this should work. If it does not then Sony are more than likely correct and it will need a specialist repair :(
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
