Hi,on the open end of the bag that slips onto the vacuum, there is a cloth "tab" sticking up from the band.

Take hold of this tab and lift up while easily pulling back until you see the band about half way off the vacuum. Now, you can take hold of the band and pull the bag the rest of the way off.

You will notice that there is a "rib" in the middle of the band on the side that faces the vacuum.

That rib fits into the groove where the band goes on the vacuum. When you install the bag put the band on this groove and work the band on around the housing.

You can center the "tab" anywhere, just place it where you can get to it easy.

The other parts you need are on the internet, I found them all including that rubber plug called the "attachment port" plug. The p/n for the replacement part is 3-201744-601. The original p/n is 3-501744-601 but you'll be better looking for the replacement part number. Good luck!

Why does the check bag light come on when the bag is new on my riccar vacuum?

The light is indicating an obstruction somewhere. It is most likely in the hose or the suction tube the hose inserts into.

Lid won't close. I started to put in a new bag but accidentally took out the plastic insert section the bag should attach to--so when I closed the lid over that, I must have pushed a little too hard. Now...

Your supposed to take out the plastic part that holds the bag but the way this unit is designed the lid will not close unless everything is inthere correctly so just make sure evverything in inserted correctly and keep trying! DO you still have your bag holder?

Electrolux Epic 6500SR Full Bag sensor working, Does not Reset properly

The problem was a sticking switch that was not being reset. The vacuum on/off switch mechanism is comprised of two switches. One is the main switch that turns the vacuum on and off. The second is a shut off switch that gets tripped when the full bag sensor is engaged. This second switch is supposed to get reset when you push the on/off switch on the outside of the machine. The full bag shutoff switch was stiff and it, therefore, was taking a couple of presses of the on/off switch to move the shutoff switch back into the running position.

Vaccum Bag

Slide the plastic piece off the cloth bag and open the top. Looking down into the cloth bag, you will see the old bag. It is secured to the machine near the top. You will find the cardboard collar about a third of the way down. Remove it carefull. Now, stand BEHIND the machine and put your knee against the back of the handle and taking the new bag, open the hole in the cardboard collar and insert the bag into the cloth bag and put the cardboard collar onto the handle fitting. It helps to put the lower part of the hole on first and then press the top of the collar onto the handle fitting. The idea of standing behind with your knee against the handle is so that as you attach the bag, you will be pushing against your knee which will steady the machine and allow you to use the required force to complete the action. Once completed, fold the top of the paper bag down, so that when you replace the top slider, the paper bag is NOT clamped between the cloth bag and the slider.
