Unfortunately this probably means that the AC Motor within the device has shorted out. These motors will still allow the blade/shaft to move even if a fault has occurred. It is unlikely, but possible that this particular model is built in such a way that a replaceable fuse is accessible to the operator. More then likely however the motor will have 'burnt' out and will no longer function no matter what you try.
Try to check the power cord for nicks and check that the outlet functions correctly. Lastly check that the power switch is properly operational. If all of this seems in working order then you are stuck with a non-functional device.

Check if the container for the ground coffee is properly placed. There should be a safety switch that is turned off when you put the container in place.
If that is not the case the thermal fuse for the motor might have blown.

How do i pull out the short cord?

I just now took a flat blade screwdriver, turned the coffee mill (Mr. Coffee) upside down, pushed the little bit of cord back in until I saw the cord wrapped around the base. Gently lifted it over the base and kept hand unwrapping it. Worked fine, will not retract, but this is not a problem for me. Hope this helps.

How do I clean my coffee mill/grinder (Models IDS50, IDS55, IDS57, IDS59)?

Clean your coffee mill before using it for the first time. Then, to ensure optimal mill function and durability, clean it regularly following these simple steps.
  1. Unplug your coffee mill.
  2. DO NOT PLACE THIS COFFEE MILL IN WATER. DO NOT IMMERSE THE BLADES OR MOTOR BASE IN WATER.
  3. Remove the coffee mill cover and brush. Wash both in warm sudsy water. Rinse and dry each thoroughly. The cover and brush are NOT dishwasher safe.
  4. Use the Built-In Cleaning Brush to sweep out excess grounds. Use a clean cloth or paper towel to remove any remaining grounds.
  5. Be sure to clean your coffee mill completely after each use.
  6. Do not try to oil or sharpen the blades. The blades are permanently lubricated and never need sharpening.

My Cuisinart DCG-12BC coffee grinder, the bowl is stuck on the motor base. It works and turns, but it will not come apart to be able to clean it. Please advise.

.... mine stuck after "first" use ... solution ... took it back to the store, got a refund, bought a Mr. Coffee Model IDS77 which was $11. cheaper, has automatic grind settings and a superior bowl arrangement... Then I put Cuisinart on my list of DO NOT BUY ... anything can have problems, but something obviously this chronic should be handled better by the manufacturer ... it should have been taken off the market and fixed ...

Mr coffee IDS55-4 suddenly stopped working. The blade is intact. What could br the problem and what can I do?

Circuit protection in this grinder is done with a resettable fuse. Mine failed the first time I used it. Fortunately, it's relatively easy to replace.

  1. Remove the plastic plate covering the bottom of the grinder. It is held in place by three screws.
  2. Remove the power cord strain relief inside the grinder. It is held in place with two screws.
  3. Remove the motor. It will only come about half way out of the enclosure.
  4. My fuse was fastened to the motor with a copper tie, which needed to be loosened to access the fuse.
  5. Remove the fuse by un-soldering one end from the motor and clipping the wire that it is crimped to on the other side. See attached photo of the fuse after it was removed.
  6. Replace with a 15A fuse or just solder the end of the black wire directly on to the motor. If you don't replace the fuse, you should be careful not to run the grinder for prolonged periods of time because your may destroy the motor.

Don't know how to use Mr.Coffee IDS57 coffee grinder

Typically you load in the beans, replace the cover and then either press down on the entire cover or the black knob on the front of the cover. I would hold the lid down with your other hand just to be safe. Grind for about 4-6 seconds depending on how strong you like your coffee (the longer you grind the finer the coffee will be...this means STRONGER)

The two small little guides you refer to are a pair of switches that get depressed when the top is pressed down. In the top is supposed to be a plastic pin in the top of each one of the grooves. When both pins push both of the switches down (look like black dots) the grinder wil operate. The proper solution would be to replace the top.
