Re: cuisinart EM-200 espresso machine won't make coffee
You might check the water hose and make sure that it didn't come disconected. sometime they wear out over time and strech becoming loos. and when that happens the maker can not **** the water through the tube into the expressor mix causeing it to make u sucking noise.

Very strange problem for that model. I would remove the portafilter holder, and then run 3 cups distilled white vinegar through the machine - let it run on the espresso setting first, then let it run on the steam/water setting, with the function knob turned to water, and not steam. Clean any espresso grinds off the metal element that the portafilter holder usually conceals. Then try making a batch using the double filter basket, but only use a tiny amount of espresso - don't tamp very hard. If all is well, proceed to use the espresso maker. If not, call Cuisinart - that model has a 3-year warranty.
Slide water chamber out and put filtered water in it - i would make only 1 cup at a time, so fill only to the minimum fill line. Most tap water will overpower the taste of the espresso. Use grounds, not pods - podded espresso will come out too weak. I would suggest using the double filter cup instead of the single - doubles can be ordered from Cuisinart website.
