SONY WEGA 36" PURCHASED IN 2002 (PICTURE TUBE MODEL/ NOT LCD)
We noticed today that every channel has a purple-blue tint in the corners of every picture and heightened colors within the pictures themselves (i.e. the blues/greens really stand out on the pictures)..
We're note sure what the issue is but we think maybe the tube is toast. Before we by a new TV we'd like to know

It might be due to picture tube problem... As its too old, the picture tube might be weak and hence you might get colors at the edges.. Better replace the picture tube with a new one to solve this problem
some pro's and contra's...
Trinitron tubes are the best ever built picture tubes - long life, best contrast and sharpness, brilliant colors, etc thou u never get with any modern lcd screen. otherwise the big form factor is uncompareable with todays thin screens. also the brand itself and in your case the wega model is a name on its own high standard. anyway i would recommend you to let your tv check by a local service cause it sounds like a electronical problem - let them tell you how much aproximately fixing will count - before they repair it - so you still can decide is it worth or not. hope to helped a bit.
The color signal consists of Red, Green and Blue. Those three colors, at various degrees, make all the other colors on your screen.
If you have a BRIGHT green screen it's best you don't operate your set. If it's just tinted green then there is a problem on the CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) drive board. Do check your "tint" setting and see if someone misadjusted it. If that isn't it then you need to have your set on an electronics bench and get an estimate for repair.
most atimes if i adjust the screen adjuster on the voltage multiplier i always observe that the screengoes green(lg 21" television),and if i readjust the screen, the greengoes off.Rubberhead, try adjusting the sceenknob on your voltage multiplier(line transformer).
