If there is ice built up on back inside freezer wall, you have a defrost problem. Either defrost heater, defrost thermostat, or defrost control (timer or Board) is bad.

Water dripping inside KTLA22EMSS01

Your freezer actually cools your fridge. It sounds like you have ice build up in your freezer behind the back panel. You should be able to unscrew the back wall inside your freezer. A hair dryer should help defrost or keep it open for a few and use a screwdriver to remove the build up of ice. The ice has made its way down the vent and when it hits the fridge it is above 32 degrees so it is melting. Hope this helps. I manage rental properties and have had it happen on a few occasions.

Not cooling properly

Hello,

First thing- set the controls at the mid range of their settings. Next, check the coils under the fridge to see if they are clogged with dust, etc. Next, using a couple stem thermometers, determine the temps in the freezer and fresh food sections. In the fresh food section, place a tall glass of water on a shelf in the middle, put the thermometer in and let it set for awhile in the fridge. Inside the fresh food section, look for the damper opening at the top of the wall in between the two sections. Wet the back of your fingers- can you feel air blowing through the damper opening? Inside the freezer section, look at the back wall- any frost buildup there.

Hope this help.....

Not cooling enough

I had the same problem and I discovered it was the defrost element that was shorted out which keeps the ice from building up located behind the back freezer wall.

Water dripping from freezer onto top shelf of fridge with ice buildup back of freezer

the defroster isn't close enough to the drain to be effective. remove the back wall of the inside of the freezer, remove the excess ice. clear out the ice from the drain using hot water and a turkey baster. there is a kit from whirlpool that uses a piece of metal and a screw around the defrost rod, but I found out that a piece of 14 gauge solid core wire with the insulation stripped off works great too. stick the stripped wire into the drain, 2 to 3 inches, and wrap the rest around the defrost rod.

Our model is MCBR 415S. The top freezer acts as

You most likely have a bad thermostat control or a bad defrost timer.
Locate the defrost timer, probably inside the temp control panel.Defrost cycles should last 30 minutes then resume freezing.
Manually turn the timer control a 1/4 turn and see if it starts.
If so, replace the defrost control.

It could also be a bad temp control.
If the timer adjustment does not start the fridge. Tap the temp control. It may have stuck contacts.

FRIDGE COMPARTMENT FREEZING

try this, make sure you dont have anything blocking your blower in the freezer.if that is okay if you have seperate controls for the freezer and the fridge, try setting the frige setting lower and the freezer higher, this makes the blower work more in the freezer.hope it helps.

Fridge and freezer warm at top, colder but not normal on lower shelves

How old is this frig? If it is older that 12-15 years, get a new one. Make sure there is not blockage to keep the air from circulating properly. The vent from the freezer to the cooler should also be free from blockage as well.
