Question about ASUS A8R-MX/SI Motherboard
On windows install, you have to install the ULi Sata Driver for it to know the controller on board. Once you preload the driver it will see the drive and you can install windows. I believe the Asus A8R-MX/Si is Uli Sata Raid controller M1573, http://uli-sata-raid-controller-m1573.drivers.informer.com/download/5077 however your next problem will be the drivers for the motherboard, ATI Northbridge chipset I believe ATI Express 200M?, with a Nvidia Southbridge chipset. I had worked at this mobo for a while wiped the drive including the recovery partition. which I wanted to, as it was Xp and put win7 on, ran into the problem of it not seeing the hard drive, yet in the bios no problem. It was that windows doesn't see the controller you need the ULi Sata driver, then win7 installs no problem. I figured Win7 would see the other device controllers and install generic drivers to work. In most cases it did, however not the on board Lan Ethernet, so I have been looking for everywhere for the drivers, going through the list in windows for generic, tried about a dozen resulting in blue screens, restart , and remove the drivers. It is not the Marvell Yukon drivers, as a lot of sites report. The drivers for the Asus A8R-MVP do not work, as it is a different chipset. The final result may be to just throw another Lan card in , and at least get 10/100/1000 , where as the on board Lan Ethernet is only 10/100. I will keep trying until I find the driver win 7 likes for the on board lan, and will report back so that all the other people on the net will have a chance. Sadly no one has the answer as far as I have found. I have looked everywhere for the A8R-MX mother board Ethernet controller. Cannot find. All other drivers are here http://dtsupport.ztsystems.com/Default.aspx?tabid=868
