The Wet-back stove is a pre-heater for your water heater. Run the cold water or inlet from the water heater and divert it straight to the wet-back coil or radiator then back to the water heater inlet. When using your stove it will pre-heat the water going into the water heater, a lot depends on how well you insulate the piping to and from the water heater how far away, how much you use hot water. But the only time it is going to help is when your using the stove. With summer coming It might be better to look into a solar panel also. Hope this helps

Hello kii... I don't know much about it, but this thing works great.

Standard gas heater connected behind the wall.

Hot from the stove goes into a T at the cold input (top).

Cold goes to the stove from a fitting near the bottom.

No pump. Gravity fed.

Only takes a few minutes for 120~140F water. Coal fired.

The potable water flows through both (no coils).

Can a pressure relief valve cause hot water to run slowly?

The real question is 'How old is the water heater?'... over time, particularly in areas with hard water, sediment builds up in the water heater. Particularly electric models. typically a TPV (temperature/pressure relief valve) won't cause the symptoms you describe, but mineral deposits around the inlet tube (internal) could, by restricting the flow of water into the water heater.

A TPV is designed to prevent over pressurization which could cause the tank to rupture. I have priced new water heaters as low as $308.00 for a gas powered 40 gallon unit with a 3yr warranty. If you have good soldering (sweat fitting) skills, these are relatively easy to replace yourself. Whether electric or gas, make CERTAIN you shut off the heat source before attempting a replacement.

I have a 200 amp main with sixteen seperate rooms

You've already exceeded 200 amps . You should put in a 125 amp sub panel in the shop. You should get a copy of the electrical code book so you won't run afoul of the electrical inspector. The book also spells out correct wire size for the distance and how many outlets on each branch circuit. Dint forget GFI's for wet areas.

It you are not qualified to do electrical troubleshooting you might want to call an electrician. Most electricians can get an electric water heater working as long as the problem isn't actually a plumbing problem.

Our tankless water heat will not heat the water-it won't ignite

Question posted under Boasch tankless. Model number not known.
Before calling service technician, open following link for Bosch troubleshooting resources, including phone and contact for Bosch, error codes, and possible manual, plus hours of reading and research:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Troubleshoot-Bosch-Tankless-water-heater.html

As you know from reading manual, tankless water heaters require yearly maintenance by trained service technician, or by homeowner. This action would check gas and pressure, venting draft, condensation drain, burner and combustion parts, igniter and-or pilot light, electrical connections, air intake and general condition of plumbing.
Problem you describe does not include error code.
Open following link for possible help with general plumbing problem:
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/No-Error-Code.pdf

Add a comment with model number that appears on side of unit, and I can directly locate possible service bulletins and further troubleshoot resources available at Bosch for possible do-it-yourself diagnosis and repair.

Vacuum valve leaking water

Question is unclear.
What is a vacuum valve?
You posted under electric water heater.
Water heaters are associated with TP or 'safety overflow' valve, water shut-off valve, tank drain valve, pressure-regulating valve, mixing valve and possibly a few other plumbing valves.
Vacuum valve implies that a compressor is creating pressure on one line while creating vacuum on another line. I don't know of a water heater that uses air compressor.

I installed a dhc tankless heater, but when I open only the hot water everything is ok, but when I open the cold water at the same time the heater turns off.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

What is happening is that your cold water flow is greater in volume (gals per min) than your hot water. So when you open the cold water it is mixing with the hot water inside the faucett or shower plumbing and actually reverse flowing back into the hot water heater plumbing. The reverse flow slows the water flow sensing turbine inside the heater and it is thinking that there is not any water flow. (There isn't actually due to the equalization of water pressure when you open the cold water faucett) Since this is a safety feature of the tankless heater to keep it from overheating, it shuts off.
Somewhere in the hot water plumbing there is a major restriction. It may very well be the internal plumbing of the tankless hot water heater or the flow detector design.

There are 2 ways to correct this. The easy way would be to restrict the available cold water flow. You can do this by installing another shut off valve inline with the cold water plumbing and just not open the valve all the way. You would have to adjust the setting so that the hot and cold water can be on at the same time and the hot water heater stays on. The hard way is to locate the hot water flow restriction and eliminate it.
It is possible.... if you have a flow restrictor in a shower head or a screen in a faucett areator that they are partially clogged. Clean any flow restrictors and screens then see how the hot water heater performs before you start modifying plumbing.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Heater sounds like it is pop-ing and boiling

This can be a bad internal by-pass.(Inside the plumbing header) So all the water is going past the heater but it still has water pressure to start and will boil the water in the heater. this usually is more described as a banging rather than a poping. If it is just a poping it could be something much worse in the way of a bad heat exchanger. If you break down the top of the heater you will be able to see the wet on the exchanger pipes. If this is the problem depending on the age of your heater it may be time for a new heater.
