Bret, lets give this a try. 1st look at the regulator. There is an arrow on it that has to point towards the cooktop. Put is on backwards and very little gas flow. I always advise this first as I have seen people tell me it is correct and when I got out there it was reversed. 2nd was this used as a live demo unit on Propane? If you are on natural gas, this will also happen. The 3rd thing I also check for in something in the gas line on the cooktop side. I had a unit that got some packing in the line and at 5 wc for natural gas, it doesn't take much to restrict. Hope this helps.

had same problem. Used fine sandpaper on the little head (just above the white ceramic) that creates the spark. over the years the edges of the littel metal ring had gummed up but a 1 min sanding got it down to shinny metal and it sparked nicely.

SOURCE: Stained gas range burner grates
You might try placing them in the oven and running a them through a clean cycle. I did the with some ceramic coated drip pans and it worked great. Don't do this with chrome plated things as it will darken the chrome finish. Don't ask me how I know this. :)

I hade a code 153 also. Changed the element(costly-$200) and had to recalibrate the pan sensors(in the manual). All works fine now.
