The iron has an auto shut off of usually 8 minutes. The iron will automatically turn on if you move the iron. If this does not answer your concern, let me know and we can look for a solution. Thanks.

I am having the same problem with my iron. What else can I do. Some one said to turn off the auto off, but how do you do that?

I have rowenta DB5080 iron and if I walk away for one minute it shuts down. Also it doesn't seem to retain its heat level for extended p eriods of time.

They are built to shut off after about 30 sec or so if the iron is not moving and the iron is in pressing position (sole plate down). They shut off if they are not moving and standing with the sole plate vertical, in about 5 minutes. If you move the iron (like ironing) they reheat. If it doing something else the electronic control is defective. It is cheaper to replace than repair.

Premature shutting off

Have you try with lower heat setting?
It seems like it might be thermostat or thermal fuse that is not working properly.

I was given a Rowenta Effective with no instruction booklet and I can't get it to work properly. When I turn it on it gets hot but soon after that bottom light goes out and the auto off light blinks

If you start ironing with it, does it come back on? It usually doesn't take long for auto-shut-off irons to turn themselves off--a few minutes in the upright postion, and about 30 seconds if left sitting in the down position. Once you start the ironing motion, it should come back on.

Shark g1468 auto shut off (iron won't come/stay on)

First let me say I HATE AUTO SHUT OFF!!! It sounds like it has wore out. the computer part that tells it when to shut off it not working. It would be cheaper to buy a new one vs fixing yours. If I were you, find an older iron that has LOTS of steam vents and NO AUTO SHUTOFF at your local goodwill, thrift store or garage sale.

Auto shut off when still in use

I work for Black and Decker customer support. Our customer service phone number is 1-800-231-9786.

If the unit is shutting off during use, it needs to be replaced. Unfortunately, the unit can't be repaired. The unit comes with a one year warranty from the date of purchase. Please call the number above so that we can determine your warranty eligibility and help you any way we can.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Rowenta DM880 Auto shutoff - Shuts off too frequently

This is a problem with a lot of Rowenta irons. It is the auto shut off that is not working properly and the only way to fix it is to have it disassembled and the switch hardwired to be on whenever the iron it plugged in. It is a thermal metal switch and it just stops working and then the iron will not turn on and the yellow light blinks.

My Iron keeps turning off while I'm ironing

First I called Black and Decker. No help there, just a very condescending man on the other end of the phone who finally put me on hold for more than 10 minutes. I hung up, and went to the store where I purchased the iron and without a receipt they listened to the explanation and exchanged it for the exact same new iron. Now THAT'S customer service.

Premature shutting off

Hi have a nice day! Ensure that the unit is tightly plugged into a working outlet.
Some units are equipped with our patented Motion Smart Auto Off technology. Moving the iron will cause it to begin to reheat.
