Question about Samsung LN32B640 TV

1 Answer

I have a Ln32b640, I've been trying to use it as a display for my Imac upstairs. Having trouble getting sound coordinated with video. HDMI cable delivers video; the problem is the audio, where I've been using RCA jacks plugged into ear. Also, ever since I put HDMI cable through my walls -- even before I plugged it in --- our satellite channels have been switching randomly from dark on top of screen to light on bottom to light all over (perfect). Self diagnostic tests show good picture and good sound. What do you think?

First with the problem you're experiencing with coordinating video with sound without needing to use ear phones: The televisions that allow you to plug the Imac into them for picture and souind have a 3.5mm minijack input right next to or below the hdmi input or RCA jack inputs right next to or below the hdmi input. When a television does not allow for this you have to purchase a sound bar or other external speaker system to connect the RCA jacks to, and the sound will come through it.

Next the background interference of the satellite receiver with the presence of hdmi cables in a nearby area (???): Remember when mom would turn on the mixer or the blender while the old tube tv was on and you would get all those wiggly lines and the screen would go haywire? This is the same idea, but this should not be. The solution is one of three things and I'm sorry to have to break the news. Either the satellite receiver requires a software update that is probably not available or you might need another satellite receiver itself. The worst case scenario is that the satellite tv company may have to do some rewiring.

Imac to jvc

Hi. A couple of things to try.
Switch everything off. Make sure your connections are sound then switch on the TV. Then switch on the mac. With luck the system should sort itself out. However, I have heard of others who have had nothing but grief trying to get similar arrangements to work.Normally ther Mac does it's own thinking, works out what is at the other end and puts up the display without any problems - other than the picture width being invariably wrong until you find the correct size.
There are no drivers to download - the issue is generally that the TV is not reporting back to the computer the correct resolution and scan rates.
You may have to dive deeper into the TV's menus to locate the means of altering the parameters.

I have my television, cable box, and apple tv running into the tuner with HDMI cables with the tuner hooked up to surround speakers for the sound. I'm having trouble separating the audio and video. I would...

The only way you can do this is by connecting the Cable Set Top box HDMI directly to the TV HDMI input and switching the TXSR508 to Apple TV. And if you want to hear the Cable sound through the TXSR, connect analogue audio out of the TV to one of the analogue inputs of the TXSR ( Aux or Video In ). You may not get the Cable TV's Dolby 5.1 sound but you will get stereo sound which on using the TXSR's dsp setting ( ProLogic II ) can be made into 5.1.

Video no sound running hdmi

In regards to you no sound problem most likely you have a device that does not support sound thought the HDMI port like an computer monitor. If this is the case you will have to configure the audio through the analog cable, you can do this in the PS3's audio settings. Also note if you ever had the analog cable hooked up you may need to tell the audio to go through the HDMI cable if you do have a video display that does support audio going through the HDMI cable.

If you still have trouble let me know. I am not near my PS3 but if you have trouble I can reply with the walk through steps for you.

The Yamaha RX-V463 AV does not playsound from the blue ray player

"I am also having difficulties in try to display the yamaha set up menu on the tv."
According to the manual the display menu for TV will not work with HDMI hook up.
I also have a Panasonic HD TV and can't get TV sound through my Yamaha AVR on "TV Sound" mode.  Trying to use HDMI cable for this also.  Do I need a digital optical cable or do I not have something set right?
