When starting my laptop it gets to the 'Installing Windows Updates' screen then just reboots. I've tried safe mode and 'last known good configuration but it doesn't work.

On startup (previous to the windows screen loading) press F8, from this list presented use the arrow keys to select "last known good configuration" and hit enter.

As explained in the original post, I have done that but have the same issue. It tries to do updates, fails and reboots.

If this does not work and it says installing windows updates screen, you could try safemode. I understand you say you have tried safemode, however you did not explain what happens when you do. If you were to try safemode with networking it should skip this update screen. From here you should be able to run windows update within safemode.

If you are unable to boot into safemode, You can try microsoft's free support on this website:https://support.microsoft.com/oas/defaul...

When booting into safe mode (Normal, with networking or command prompt) the first thing that comes up is the windows "Installing Updates 1 of 3" screen. It stays at 0% for 5-10 minutes then reboots. No blue screen or anything.

You didn't told us, what is the most recent updates you've done, i.e.: installing driver or software, or something like this.

Choose 'Last Known Good Configuration', if not worked, choose 'safe mode'

When i switch on my acer aspire 5735 i see a blue screen informing me that windows is updating 3 of 3 updates but nothing happens as the screen just hangs for hours? Thanks

i think your windows was updating itself but there is a problem with the update maybe you did not finish the update or the update file got corrupted. try if you can go safe mode that might fix the problem if still the same you need to reinstall your Windows.
if you are familiar with Windows installation there is an option there wherein you can repair your previous Windows installation. try that it might help before reinstalling windows.

MY LAPTOP WENT OFF DURING UPDATES NOW IT WONT FINISH LOADING, it comes up update 3 of 3 then restarts and says same again keeps doing it not letting me in to lap top anymore seems stuck on updates

Hold F8 while booting to go into safe mode, or last known good configuration. Then, preform the update from there, and that should fix your problem.

Unit wont start, gray screen then goes to a screen with options on how to start unit and then goes blank

Answer:To load the last known good configuration in Windows 2000 / XP reboot the computer and as it's booting booting press and hold your "F8 Key" which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Last Known Good Configuration" and press your Enter key.
Trouble Getting into Windows 2000 or Advanced Options menu - If after several attempts you are unable to get into Windows 2000 or Windows XP Safe Mode as the computer is booting into Windows turn off your computer. When the computer is turned on the next time Windows should notice that the computer did not successfully boot and give you the Safe Mode screen.
Note: With some computers if you press and hold a key as the computer is booting you will get a stuck key message as the computer is booting. If this occurs instead of pressing and holding the "F8 key" tap the "F8 key" continuously until you get the startup menu.

Windows Advanced Options Menu
Please select an option:
Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)
Debugging Mode
Start Windows Normally
Reboot
Return to OS Choices Menu
Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlight to your choice.
As can be seen from the above example, you should be able to highlight and press enter to load the last known good configuration. Once completed the computer should restart and attempt to load into Windows.
Will running the Last Known Good Configuration delete anything?
No, running the last known good configuration will restore your last good system settings and will not delete anything. The only thing you may have to reinstall programs you have recently installed because the configuration for those programs may have been lost.

HELP!! (dell precision 340) im getting 4 screens when i turn on m

Reboot into Safe Mode by repeatingly tapping on F8 while in process of rebooting and then select "last known good configuration". If that fails reboot again to safe mode and select safe mode with command prompt and in the command prompt type "chkdsk /f /r " <enter>

If that doesnt work do place your Windows CD into the Cd-Rom, reboot and select option "Repair"

PC notebook will only start in safe mode.

Hi,

Try doing a System Restore, once you have booted up in Safe Mode, to a time before you had the problem.

Hope this helps

Ihave blue screen after my laptop just shut down

If you didn't get to log in try this.Reboot, tap the F8 key until you get to the advanced start up screen. Click on last known good configuration.
If you logged in it will not work so try to boot in safe mode. (again tap the F8 key on reboot)
The blue screen is a configuration error. Either hardware or software.
Hardware could be bad, (memory, hard drive).
Software could be any thing, (an update, new install).
If you just did a windows update and the blue screen happened I would boot to safe mode and uninstall the update.
Control panel, add/remove programs.
You might need to check the box in the top right to show updates.
Find the latest update and click remove.
