It struggles to start sometimes, other times it doesnt. yesyerday i heard a screaching noise while driving, later that night it wouldnt start. the car lights were diming then nithing

Check your belts, the screaching noise was probably coming from the belt slipping. Make sure the alternator and all the pulleys are turning freely.

My 92 vette sat all last winter and I needed to replace my battery. After I replaced the battery I started the car, the stereo had a high screach sound thru the speakers, you could not hear anything...

its interference from the alternator ,for whatever reason which i think is your problem but i could be wrong it could just be the radio has damp inside it and may dry out with use like have the heater on ,without hearing the noise its difficult to pinpoint exactly what the noise is ,yes their is a difference in the type of noise as to a clue as to what is causing the noise .

My dryer is making loud screaching noises. Everytime I turn it on to dry clothes is makes very loud screaching noises.

Sounds like it needs what are called glides or felt. This is what keeps the metal drum from contacting the metal housing. If this is let go too long the drum can be ruined

Drum fails to operate at times and making a screaching noise. Sometimes drum needs to be spun by hand to get it operating and spinning.

All dryers have to have a way of allowing the tumbler (that's the thing you put the clothes in) to turn freely, not all of them are the same tho, some use bearings, some use slides, others use rollers. Over time these rollers will need to be oiled, the slides will get thin and start metal to metal contact causing a noise, The rear bearings will then start to make their way to china and cause the tumbler to rub into the heating element and OUCH! These things will cause the motor to prematurely DIE! Its best to examine the dryers, rollers, and slides when you first hear the noise, but who does?

Metalic noise when drum rotates

Something has got in the tub or the bearing is going bad.
If something metalic has gone through a hole or over the top rim, you want to get it out immediately because further use will cut a hole in the tub or damage the drum.
If it's the bearing, it would likely have started soft & gotten louder with time. Is there any play in the drum if you try & move it side to side?

Maytag dryer - makes squelling noise when you turn it on

Your glides are getting thin. Not unlike that of shoes on an automobile the glide will wear down and start the old metal to metal screaching.
Get the front off and get the drum out. Remove the glides and replace them. Or flip them over if you are
a cheapskate. LOL Use this GUIDE that tells how to access yer dryer innards and a lot of other cool stuff. Hay I wrote it!
