Pilot light problems

Could be the bulb of the safety thermocouple is not being heated by the pilot light or the thermocouple is faulty.

I have a VC Wonderfire model 2610. The pilot flame is perfect blue on both sides... however, when I hit the switch for the main burner to come on...the pilot goes out... any ideas ???

You may have moved the safety sensor or pilot flame tip. The pilot light heats a wire. The wire is the safety sensor. The wire has to be clean and in the pilot flame near the flame tip.

My water heater won't light. The pilot light works. But, when I try to swtch the pilot to regualr, the flame goes out.

You probably have a defective thermocouple. The thermocouple sits in the flame of the pilot, and the heat generates a small electrical current conducted back to the gas valve, keeping the pilot gas line open after you switch it to the "on" position. That's why you have to manually hold the gas valve depressed (on) during lighting in the "pilot" position, allowing the thermocouple time to heat up enough to generate its current. A defective thermocouple will not generate the holding current.

On my patio heater the pilot light will light but goes out as soon as I release it, even after holding it down a long time. I can't get it to stay on to light the heater.

Check that the pilot light is directed at the thermocouple, a copper 'tube' that heats up when the pilot light is lit. You should be able to see a copper coloured small tube that the pilot light is directed at - if the pilot flame is not heating that tube then the main burner will not light.

If the thermocouple is being heated correctly, then it could be a fault with the thermocouple itself (can be replaced) or the gas valve.

If the pilot flame is not heating the end of the thermocouple you should be able to adjust its position so that the pilot flame is directed at it more accurately

After heating pilot goes out . my igniter is bad so i light manually and after heating main burner shuts off and so does pilot

The thermocouple that controls the gas to the pilot light must be bad. The thermocouple, when it is heated by the pilot light keeps a valve open that keeps gas flowing to the the pilot light. This thermocouple closes the valve that supplies gas to the pilot light, this is to prevent gas from continuing to escape when the pilot light goes out. This is a safety issue, I recommend that you call a professional about this problem. You might be able to repair it your self by replacing the thermocouple but I still recommend that you have it checked by a professional.

Dryer pilot light goes on then goes right out. dryer wont heat

Hi there. Soon as the pilot switches off (will still be red hot but fade away rapidly) the gas valve should turn on. (make sure gas supply is on) If valve doesn't turn on, check sensor located very near pilot element.
When the sensor "feels" the heat of the pilot, it switches the pilot off and the gas valve on.
Thanks
Paul

Pilot light goes out when i turn on heat. pilot light is blue flame lights good but when try to turn on heat it clicks and goes out therefor heat doesnt come on

How long do you leave the pilot on before you turn on heat. The thermal pile will take 3-5 minutes to heat up before it will send a signal to gas valve. If thermal pile doesn't send signal then gas valve closes. You might need a new thermal pile.
