Were sent a Y SUS replacement board told it was compatible but then someone else said it's not...The original panel was 6871QYH948B the replacement is a 6871QYH053A Are we safe to fit the latter? Don't have the answer, but am also wondering about replacing my 6871qyho53b board with 6871qyh048b. There seems to be a lot of board numbers where the boards look the same?

A cynic might be of the opinion that the lack of reliable information and subsequent confusion are as much about preventing repairs in the hope that manufacturers sell more TV's. From what I read people seem so disappointed with how quickly the sets are scrapped that they vow never to buy the same make again. But the PCB suppliers don't care as they seem to sell to the other TV manufacturers too. But luckily we're not cynics...

LG 42 inch plasma. Half screen is ok (rh side) other side black

Buffer boards or Y-SUS main needs to be replaced. What do you mean by motherboard? The power supply board or the Logic or X main.... They YBU/YBL and the YSUS work in unison. Y-Buffer upper controls top half, Y Buffer lower control bottom have YSUS controls both of those. There is also D, G, E F boards that can split screan. But they to are controlled with the Y-SUS Main. Hope this helps...

The Z-SUS board... LG panel I assume? Not your most typical failure, but certainly not unheard of. You should remove the panel connections for the Z-SUS and inspect along the edge of the panel for burns or signs of smoke with a flash light. If you can not get a clear view, it may be necessary to unscrew the panel and carefully lift the edge a little. You want to inspect the point at which the ribbons enter the panel. If you do not see any black smoky marks, you may be safe with a Z-SUS replacement.

Picture gone on an LG 42pc1dv-ec plasma. Sound OK, inputs OK. Vs fuse blown on y-sus board. Replaced fuse but still no pic. Checked d.c voltages from PSU. When switched on from cold Vs>300 and Va>80....

Your Vs voltage is high, check if the heatsinks on the Z-sustain board are getting hot after a short time, if so replace the Z-sustain board. If not, dis-connect the Vs & Va plug connection to the Y-sustain & check if the voltages are normal (185V & 80V). If they are then your fault will be in the Y-sustain board. There is a possibility the control board (sits below the power supply) could also be a problem as it is not able to initiate the control to the sustain boards.

42" plasma won't stay on

I would change the Y-drive boards (there is usually one for upper and one for lower and are connected to the y-sus and the panel). If there is a problem with the Y-sus that caused a capacitor to blow, it is likely that the Y-drives were also damaged. You can usually check the voltages on the board with a digital multimeter. There is usually a sticker on the Panel telling you what the voltages should be (Va, Vs, Vcc, etc...). I would also check the voltages on the Z-sus (sometimes called X-sus) but the Y-drives are definitely where to start.

No pic but sound

I think you probably mean the Y-Sustain board which does have fuse which can blow. This board is on the left hand side (as you look from the rear of the TV). Occassionally other factors can be responsible for this fuse to blow such as the buffer PCB which works in conjunction with the Sustain board. An established repair service centre or a supplier on-line will porvide a replacement for you.

Hi Ryan, You are on the right track. It is the power supply board. Once you replace the power supply board, the unit will back back to brand new. Mike

My LG Plasma TV RU42PX10C

Hi all..i had the same problem with my 42 inch LG
rz42px11. its a faulty zsus board(Z sustain part no 6871QZH033A) the pop
sound was the fuse on the board blowing.not that hard to replace but be careful with the connector ribbons! got my replacement from £150....expensive,but probably cheaper than
calling someone out to fix it.
P.S i tried just to replace the fuse on the board T2AH 250v but it blew,i think the fact the fuse blows means the board is faulty..but you could try.
hope this helps someone.
Good Luck
