Please see the link here below for the complete manual.

If you go to page 70 you will see the complete pin layout for RS232, if you need to connect it to a PC with a 9 pin RS232 port you can see the equivalent on page 72.

Please let me know if you need more details.

    Dear TechLoHope,
You are right but...the serial port you are talking about is bi-directional.
You can use the serial port to program the unit, to be a converter from serial to ethernet and to convert from ethernet to serial. Fig. 2.1 should help you to understand what I mean.

When you are saying that you are struggling to make it work I'm wondering about the application. We use devices like this one and other vendor like Moxa to interface drives, PLC, scanners, etc..., located miles away on a VPN.

What you have to pay attention to is the pinout yes, but the configuration also (Baud rate, parity, etc..).

To program this device I recommend you to use the web interface, it should be easier, then be sure you have installed the virtual com or com emulator on the PC you try to use to communicate with the device connected to the serial port.

Before I continue let me know if it is clear up to here.

Hi. I have to configure the lantronix mss-100, bat I dont have the cable.

Are you asking about a serial cable to connect the serial port on the MSS100 to (for instance) a Com port on a PC?

If that's the case you can use a DB9-to-DB25 null modem cable. Here's an example:

You will also need a DB25F/F gender changer in order to use this cable.

If the MSS100 already has an IP address that is valid on your network you can telnet to it or open it's web configuration manager in a browser to configure it.

There are video tutorials of various ways to assign an IP address to an MSS here:

There is also a FAQ:

Installation and configuration information is in the Installation and Getting Started chapters of the MSS User Guide,

I have connected Lantronix UDS1100 Device with Siemens AZL Meters. But not able to get complete data on front end.

The UDS has the following LEDs, which help you diagnose problems.
Power LED (green)
Ethernet 10/100 Link (yellow = 10 Mb/green = 100 Mb)
Ethernet Half/Full Duplex Activity (yellow = Half Duplex/green = Full Duplex)
Diagnostic (red)
Status (green)
Simultaneously lit Diagnostic (red) and Status (green) LEDs mean something is
wrong. If the Diagnostic LED is lit or blinking, count the number of times the Status
LED blinks between its pauses. The following table explains the LED functions:

Cash Drawer Command

The cashdrawer is SERIAL, you'll need to connect it to a COM port. The
software you're using has to be capable of sending data to the COM port
the cashdrawer is connected to when the cashdrawer needs to be opened.
From the site you mentioned:

Be sure drawer lock is not engaged.
Exit your system to a DOS prompt. Type the following commands (substitute
the correct com port for com1):
c:\>mode com1:300,n,8,1
c:\>echo "000000000000000000000">com1
The cash drawer should open.

About the cashdrawer RJ11 connection on the printer: You can connect any
solenoid driven cashdrawer to this port. The port uses pin 2 and 4 for
the voltage output, which is normally 24V on Epson receipt printers.
Sending a specific ESC character (every POS software should be capable of
doing this) to the printer will be recognized by the printer and the
printer puts 24V on the 2 pins mentioned for 300ms and voila, the drawer

Hyper terminal with IBM NWAYS Router 2210 Model 12E.

Hi Viki, I use HyperTerminal to configure my HP switches and a few other devices but typically they use a *special* manufacturer cable. I suspect that may be a problem you?re having; do you get any communications from the router via HyperTerminal? If you?re sure the cable is correct you can try the following configurations in HyperTerminal: -Start HyperTerminal *HT* with Com1 *if that?s what you?re using*connected to you console or data port on your router using the appropriate cable. - Create a new *location* in HT and name it something appropriate. - When the *connect to* box appears make sure you change the *connect using:* field to Com1 or whatever port you?re using* .-In the Com1 properties make the following changes: bps=9600; data bits = 8; parity = none, stop bits = 1 and flow control = Xon/Xoff. -Next click on file, properties then the settings tab. Set emulation to VT100 If this doesn?t work I would look seriously at your cable. Let us know if you have any more questions and as always please don?t forget to rate the posting.
