My Lexmark x4850 has stopped prin?t the computer. What is wrongting . Sometimes it will print when I restar

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

You may also try to update your printer driver by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/lY7NTO. Select your operating system, download and execute the file. After the install process, try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

The printer will not print anything... there is a yellow light and beside it is the "!"

This could be one of several things...

1. You are out of paper.
2. You have a print job in the print qeue that is corrupted in which case in the bottom right of taskbar should be a printer icon, use that to open your print qeue and select the print job that is fouled and cancel it or just do a 'cancel all'. Then try to send the print job through again.
3. Your printer driver is either installed improperly or has become corrupted. Go to your 'Device Manager' (if you dont know where this is click the windows icon in lower left and just do a search which should bring up the Device Manager as one of the results. Find your printer in the list of devices that are shown, right click the printer and select uninstall (if the uninstall window has an option to delete the driver software please select that then continue). Once its uninstalled do a reboot, at this point Windows will either auto-install your printer again if it recognizes it or you then use the Install disc and reinstall it as you did when you first got it.
4. Its possible the printer could just be out of ink as well.
5. Check and make sure the cables are connected properly.

Please power off both the PC and PRINTER. Restart both and try to print once again. If the problem persists, please return so I can continue to help you.
