You need to log into the router's internal webpage and check the settings there. Open up a web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, whatever) and type the following into the address bar at the top of the screen. Press enter. It will then ask for a username and password. This should be "admin" for the username, and "password", for the password (no quotes). From here you can access the router's wireless settings including the network name (SSID) and password (passphrase). These settings will be under the setup category under wireless settings. They may also be changed from here, just make sure to scroll to the bottom and click apply after making any changes. My recommendation is to change the SSID to something totally different then it was before so that your wireless devices don't confuse your old setting with your new settings. Setup your wireless devices on the network again with the information listed on the wireless settings page and you should be good to go.

My new kindle fire keeps rejecting my password so i cant sign in

Access your wireless router and change the security settings from WPA or whatever to none and APPLY or SAVE.

Then immediately after, change the security setting back to the orginal security setting WPA or whatever.

Try it again.

If no joy, go to your Kindle and find the wireless settings and find the entry for your wireless router and delete or forget that network.

Restart your kindle and try logging into the wireless router again.

Configuring Netgear Wireless Routers/Access Points

What do you need to know about configuring routers?
All basic router configuration are almost the same. You can access the router by a specific address. In this case, for NETGEAR router, the default address is

You can access the router configuration page by typing on the address bar of any browsers.
It will then ask for the User name and Password. The
Default UserName is : admin
Default Password : password

Most of the people just want to configure their wireless network and what is the wireless key.
You can check the wireless setting of the router. You will then see the wireless network name or the SSID. You can definitely change that to the wireless network key that you wish to use.
You can also change the wireless key which is your wireless security. There are several types of wireless security. We have WEP, WPA-PSK, WPA-PSK2.

Usually, WEP and WPA wireless encryption are used. For WEP, you can use 10 digits numbers from 0-9 and for WPA-PSK, you can use alpha numeric characters.

It's up to you what to use. You can easily change the wireless key by entering it on the Key1 under the Security Encryption. Just hit apply and you can now use the new wireless network name and key that you just setup..

One tip of advise, don't be afraid to change the settings of the router. Just remember the current settings if you are not that familiar before changing anything. If that doesn't work, just revert the changes. I'm sure, you'll get comfortable on configuring any router in a short time..

Happy configuring.. :)

I cannot find information I need to connect to my wireless hp printer I need wpa key or wep passphrase

When you installed your wireless router, you should have configured its wireless interface:
* set an SSID -- the "name" of your network
* set an encryption-level -- hint: use 'WPA' or 'WPA2'
* set a password or pass-phrase for your network

Enter the SSID/password on your HP printer, to connect it to your router.

Cant connect Xbox 360 to this wireless router

Turn on the console and navigate to the wireless settings screen. On the Xbox, the menu path is "Settings -> Network Settings -> Advanced -> Wireless -> Settings" On the Xbox 360, the menu path is "System -> Network Settings -> Edit Settings." Set the SSID (network name) on the Xbox to match that of the wireless router. If your wireless router has enabled SSID broadcast, the SSID name should appear pre-selected on the Xbox display. Otherwise, select the "Specify Unlisted Network" option and enter the SSID there. Specify "Infrastructure" as the Network Mode. (Infrastructure is the mode used by wireless routers.) Set the Security Type to match that of the wireless router. If your router uses WPA encryption and the type of adapter connected to the Xbox does not support WPA, you will need to change your router settings to use WEP encryption instead. Note that the standard Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter supports WPA while the standard Microsoft Xbox Wireless Adapter (MN-740) only supports WEP. Save your settings and verify the network is functional. On the Xbox, the Wireless Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made with the wireless router, and the Connect Status screen displays whether a connection has successfully been made through the Internet to Xbox Live. On the Xbox 360, use the "Test Xbox Live Connection" option instead.

Lost cd to install...can you help me with this

You don't really need the install disk. Just plugin and connect your PC using the ethernet cable to LAn port on the back.
First reset your router by using a tooth pick or pen to push in the tiny reset button on the back of the route for 30 second.
Open your IE browser and type in this address and login to your router.
under Setup tab -->basicsetup, internet connection type, choose "Automatic Configuration -DHCP, If you have DSL service it may need to be set to PPPoE.
To setup wireless:
Click the wireless tab.
-under Basic setting:
Wireless Network Mode: here you can choose the band you want to use. B,G, N, or choose Mixed if you not sure.
Wireless Network Name (SSID): This is your name of network, you can name it what ever you like.
Wireless Channel: the higer the better.
Wireless SSID Broadcast: Chose enable.
-Click save.
- under wirless security (This will set up pass key for your wireless)
Security Mode: Commonly use is WPA personal or WPA2 personal. This depend on your wireless card. WPA should work fine.
WPA Algorithms: set to TKIP
WPA Shared Key: This will be your pass key to connect your wireless device. make one up.
-Click save.

Now Click on the "Administration" tab and under "Management" enter or change your password. This will prevent people from changing your setting. Click save when done. You will be ask to login again with the new password.

Now click on the "Status" tab under Router, click the "HDCP release" button, this will delete the current IPs address. Than click "DHCP Renew" button to get a new IPs address. You may need to click this a copuple of time. Make sure you get the ip, submask, default gateway, DNS1 ans 2 filled. If not than uplug your ISP modem and wait atleast 30 sec. It will automatically pick up the address.

That sould do it. Just this disconnect your PC from the router and connect using the wireless connection. Note: you may have to power cycle your modem and router for some laptop to connect.

Log in to the management console, if the settings have changed you will have to reset the router to the most basic settings then start it up again, do this by turning to the back of the router, most routers have a pin sized hole in the back, stick a pin down that hole and hold it steadily pushed down for 5 to 10 seconds, release and wait 5 to 10 seconds and try again, hope this helps..

What is wpa pass phrase while setting wireless printer

WPA with a Pre-Shared Key (PSK), also known as personal. PSK is entered as a pass phrase between 8 to 63 alphanumeric characters in the ASCII format at both ends of the wireless connection. Although PSK accepts a minimum of eight characters, for proper security, it is a good idea to use ample length and should not use a commonly known phrase. This phrase is used to generate session keys that are unique for each wireless client.

WPA pass phrase is a password for the wireless network to make it secured. You can obtain the WPA pass phrase when you access your router. Check the manual of your router for the address, username and password of your router. Go to wireless settings, you will see ther the SSID or Network Name, Network Key or the Pass Phrase and Authentication (WPA/WPA2/WEP). You can personalize the SSID,Network Key and Authentication. Remeber that for you to connect wirelessly the Authentication and Network Key on the router should match the Network Key and Authentication of the Printer or Computer.

Thanks for using Fixya,
