Question about HP DesignJet Z2100 InkJet Photo Printer

2 Answers

I have a HP Z2100 plotter.\r\nIt is having paper feed issues. It will print on sheets fine, but not on a roll. When a roll is loaded the carriage assembly moves to the center of roll, moves a little, feeds the roll a few inches and then does the same thing over and over until the whole roll is on the floor.

The link you sent is not correct. It is for the Officejet J4550?

    I have a Z2100 plotter.

Any sensors that could cause this?

Hi

Please try these two steps.

Try to download a print diagnostic tool or hardware diagnostic tools that will helps you find the problem. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=2093&product=3645097#N392.

If not, try to add again the printer with the same name and set it as default printer to restore back the original settings that might change.

I believe it is not a sensor issue before as you mention. It feeds other paper but not roll. I suggest you go to printer preferences and click the right paper size of the printer. Also, try to put the paper size to AUTO.

If not, set up again the printer to bring back the old configuration. Then set is as default printer.

My plotter says remove roll from sheet path

Hello,
This could be an issue with paper jam in the printer or out of paper sensor. Open the top cover (with HP logo) and check if any paper is stuck inside the printer, specially in the corners. This could also be an issue related to roll loaded in the sheet slot.
Please click the link below to download the user guide which will help you understand this better.

Plotter wont recognize edge of clear films when loaded from a roll or sheet. recognized plain paper fine

I would check the sensor on the carriage that detects paper. It might be dirty enough that printer cannot detect the subtle edge of the clear film. It is the blue light that turns on on the bottom of the carriage when you load paper.

Red and green light turn after first run

Its common problem in T Series Plotters:
Cause of malfunction: These plotters having separate sheet path as well as roll path for print media. After initializing plotter its verify the available media(sheet or roll). If sheet path is occupied by the media it wont allow the roll media, means first priority is for sheet. If sheet path paper sensor dusty or malfunction, printer will say "remove paper from sheet path" even no paper in sheet path..
How to shoot this problem:
You need to clean sheet path sensor located at sheet loading area.(black 'U' shaped part) Applying the pressured air at sensor is the best method to clean.. If problem remain you need to remove the sensor & clean or replace it.

Loading roll paper printhead path type 1

Switch on & observe the carriage behavior for hitting right ot left frames. Clean encoder with dry cloth to avoid ink marks on it & also check for damages.. if found replace it, check..
Enter in to service mode, scroll to carriage test, enter. Check for the result, if its failed, replace it..
Entering in service mode: Power off the printer by using through front panel power switch. Hold the color key switch on the printer using power switch mounted on front panel.Wait till "initializing" appears release the button, you can observe "service test" on panel scroll to carriage test> enter.
I hope you can solve the issue..

HP DesignJet 430 wont accept media

Hi,
This is the problem with the sensor. It tries to read the size of the paper, the sensor is on the side of the carriage assy(cartridges are installed on this assy). You can try cleaning this sensor or get it replaced or some times the service center will replace the carriage unit as a whole.

PRINTER DO NOT ACCEPT PAPER ON HP DESIGNJET 450C

I don't know if you are running in sheet or roll media, but we have this problem with roll media if it is not aligned properly. Usually if I release the media lever and pull 10-12" of paper through and align it with itself and with the dotted line to the right of the plotter, then it will accept it. Sometimes takes several tries. Sheet problems may be caused by dirty sensors. Good luck.

the plotter measures the media automatically. There is no size setting, only type of media. If you want to print on 8.5x 11 only a few times, load a sheet to print on by simply lifting the cover an aligning the sheet on the blue lines ,on the right side.If you plot a lot,I suggest get a 11" x 150' roll.
hope this helps
