Now if you want to connect your TV to the stereo set to get the big sound while watching a movie, you need audio OUT from the TV TO the stereo. Sadly this TV does not have such a connection shown.

If you are feeding the TV from a set top box, use an audio out from the back of the box. If you don't have a STB, they are cheap to buy to get this connection.

How do I get the stereo sound through my tv so when I am watching my tv stations I get stereo?

Hi,your TV automatically switches to Stereo mode and a pilot lamp comes on most TV sets.
If you want to listen your TV on your Stereo system thru your receiver, you need to connect "Audio Output " RCA jacks of your TV to "AUX input " or "Any input" of your receiver ( except Phone ) than just switch to respective mode corresponding your RCA connection..
There you go..Your TV sound is on the Receiver..
Take care and pls remember to rate me..
Thanks

I have a 50"tv , It has stereo audio out (L/R

If the labels say Audio Out with RCA jacks, then you don't connect speakers to those. You must connect those to a audio amplifier ( home stereo system )

If you have speaker clip jacks like on the rear of a stereo system, then just connect them as you would any other.

I connected my Sony stereo system to the philips

Make sure you turn the tv audio outputs on, use the menu on the tv to do this. Make sure you connect the audio out of the tv to the audio in on the stereo system.

Installed new 1080 plasma tv can't get sound from home theater system

A home theater system usually consists of a dolby digital stereo amplifier and 5 to 7 speakers.

Turn your stereo on and select the source that delivers video to the TV (DVD, VHS, Game, etc.). The video may be connected directly from the device to the TV, but the audio should connect to the stereo system (DVD, VHS, or other input). This way, the source audio is sent to the stereo and it provides the big sound to match the picture. Otherwise, you'd have to connect the source audio to the TV and let it's comparably tiny amplifier and speakers provide sound - that comes up short.

When playing a DVD, select the DVD input on the TV *and* the DVD input on the stereo. If you do not connect the audio to the DVD input on the stereo system, you'll have to connect to the TV, otherwise nothing will be heard.
