Hello, there are three options for such failure, the first and simplest is to try to get the remote control out of the room while the TV is off when it is in stand bye. A second possibility is the micro switches in front of the TV, you can verify that they cause failure by disconnecting the cable that connects them to the main board. If the problem stops, you will need to replace all the front switches. And now the last option, however the more expensive one, that there is a malfunction of the micro-processor circuit, from which comes the command to turn on the TV. let me know if that was helpful! Please come back to me, if you have any questions or if you need further guidance

Volume goes down to 0 and the menu goes on and off.

A bad connection on the small signal board may be the problem! Have a Tech check this connection, it may be to tight due to the heat shrink tube. Have them peel it back to reduce the strain! Should work then!

Menus pops up

The menu button on the TV itself is bad and must be replaced ( or removed ). Alternatively the whole front button assembly can be disconnected. Just follow the wire back to the main chassis and unplug it.

My philips flat tv keeps on going to the menu screen on its own.

Make sure you do not have a sticky remote. Remove the batteries from the remote and turn it on manually at the TV itself.

If the menu does not come up, your remote has problems. Did you spill anything on it or drop the remote?

other possibility is that you have a neighbor with a similar remote.

Good Luck!

MENU SCREEN POPS UP, TV CHANGES CHANNELS, TURNS SOUND DOWN

Yes. Its probably a stuck button on the TV's front panel. Try pushing or wiggling each button on the panel. It could be the channel up/down buttons or volume up/down, menu, etc.

When there is a button that is making slight contact, it keeps the microprocessor busy attending to the command its erroneously receiving from the offending button and may not allow other functions to work when this occurs.

It doesn't matter which button is stuck, any of the symptoms you describe can happen.

No menu

One of the buttons on the front of your monitor is probably stuck.
(Only one of the buttons work at a time on most monitors)

I cannot recommend taking it apart your self (have a tech do it)
But take off the front, check the buttons after you take off the front, and if it still occurs unplug the buttons from the monitor.
If it stops (which it should) replace or fix the controls)
If it doesn't, call an exorcist (just joking) or buy a new monitor.

Had the same problem with the Mitsubishi ws 48511 model. A solution posted in FixYa worked great and might be worth trying as they have very similar electronics and panels -- did you check to make sure that one of the front panel buttons isn't stuck in the depressed postition? For me, the device menu kept cycling and remote wouldn't work. Sure enough, the button was stuck pushed in. It was hard to even notice, but took little effort to get it free. Good luck.
