Yes, the fuel line could be obstructed or a dirty fuel filter. The air intake and lint filters could also need cleaning. Don't rule out contaminated kerosene too.

If you have misplaced your Owners Manual, send me the model number of your heater and I'll send you the Owners Manual w/Troubleshooting Guide.

Might want to call service technician instead of messing with gas appliance.
Or sent to service center.
Install 20 gallon under counter electric water heater and connect to 120Volt... 1500 watt element will heat water pretty quickly. To have more hot available, turn up water heater thermostat, then that will give 2 showers because more cold will be added to very hot water, thereby stretching amount of available hot..

Heater has intermediate flame only for a few seconds than loses the flame. This is the cycle till it trips.

Oil/kero heater right? Did you check the fuel? If the fuel is okay....the nozzle may need changed. If the nozzle is okay check the electric eye.

Hope this helps you...Jim...Please leave a comment

Ventless gas heater smells like kerosene

It is posible that your heater is burning fumes from paint, varnish or stain and some times carpet cleaners or other household cleaners. I work for a utility company. We get called to homes for a lighter fluid/kerosene smell quit often. Most of the time it is from the fumes burning off on a standing pilot gas oven. The odor collects in the oven and is released in the customers face when they open the oven door. This will happen with any open flame appliance when exposed to these fumes.

Heater fires starts to heat and goes out

The most likely cause is your thermocouple. Make sure it is in the flame when it is lit.
Make sure it is clean. (if not a little piece of fine steel wool will clean it).
If that does not do it change your thermocouple.

This is a fuel delivery problem. Look for:
  1. always start troubleshooting fuel problems on a Hot Surface Ignitor heater by checking the pump pressure!
  2. restricted fuel filter
  3. air leak
  4. restricted nozzle

I suggest you replace the wick and clean the wick feeder assembly. I did not own that model but did have one a number of years ago. The wicks can begin to dry out.

Reddy heat/scheu kerosene space heater no ignition

Typical kero heater uses either a spark ignition or a hot surface. The hot surface igniter is very fragile. A small bump may break the elements. Flame is detected by a photocell, signal is sent to the lockout relay board. Change the igniter costs about 50 bucks.

most parts for kero heaters are interchangable. go to desatech dot com for parts. check for a reset button for your heater. if no reset, does the fan run? your unit can use one of two ignition parts. a spark generator with a spark plug or a hot surface igniter. the unit uses a cad cell flame detector. you might need to replace this.

Won't stay running

is this kerosene or propane. if kerosene, two types of ignition is used.  a spark plug or a hot surface ignitor.  the kero unit uses a cad cell flame detector, the propane unit uses a millivolt generator.
the kero unit uses an air pump that comes off the backside of the fan motor - this airline goes to the nozzle and acts like a siphon for fuel.  there is no air pump for the propane heater. the fan just accelerates airflow through the combustion chamber.  the cad cell of the kero unit sees the flame and varies its resistance.  it is sensitive to the infrared generated by the flame and feeds this signal to the lockout relay. no flame after a few seconds, opens and locks out the unit.  the propane unit uses a millivolt generator.  it is a copper cappillary tube that has two spade connectors on it. the spade connectors are connected to a high limit mounted on the backside of the combustion chamber.  under normal conditions the hi limit is closed and completes the electrical circuit to the main valve. the millivolt generator is electrically connected to the pilot/main valve electromagnet inside. with a flame detect signal the electromagnet is energized and holds the main valve slug open allowing the propane to feed to its nozzle in the chamber. as long as there is a flame the valve stays open. no flame, no signal and the unit releases the valve pellet and closes.  you can test the hi limit by jumping out the two spade connectors and see if the unit starts and stays running.da8a32c.jpg
