It's hard to give you specific instructions without more information such as what type of PC is it, laptop/desktop, model # if it has one, etc. But here are some generic instructions that will hold true for pretty much any PC, essentially what you want to do is reset your BIOS by removing the CMOS battery:

How to Boot From A Windows 7 Password Reset Disk?

<span>Forgot Windows 7 password? It seems to be a universal iusse as widespread of Windows 7. To solve this problem, you can either buy a burned Windows password recovery CD on-line or burn such a password recovery disk with<b><a href="http://www.passwordunlocker.com/knowledge/windows-7-password-reset.html">Windows 7 password reset</a></b><span> </span>software. But no matter which method you choose, you have to boot your locked computer from the password recovery disk. However, you will feel frustrated when you have little computer skill. Take these 2 methods as your reference when you encounter the similar problem.<br />Of course, firstly , you need to create a<span> </span><a href="http://www.passwordunlocker.com/knowledge/create-win-7-password-reset-disk.html">Windows 7 password reset disk</a>, and then pay attention on how to boot from the Windows password reset disk .<br /> Method OneInsert a burned Windows 7 password recovery CD in your locked computer boot the locked computer from the CD/DVD as follows:<br /> <ul> <li>1. Turn on or restart the locked computer, watch the screen for a message like "Press to http://www.passwordunlocker.enter SETUP "or something similar. Press this key as soon as you see the message to enter BIOS menu.</li><b>Note</b>: The key pressed to enter BIOS is different based on manufacturers, but F2 or Delete are the most common keys <li>2. Use arrows to choose Boot on the taskbar, select<b><span> </span>Boot Device Priority</b><span> </span>and press Enter.</li> <li>3. Set<span> </span><b>CD ROM</b><span> </span>to the first boot device according to the prompts on the right.</li> <li>4. Press<b><span> </span>F10<span> </span></b>to save and exit BIOS. You computer will restart with the changed BIOS settings</li></ul><br /> Method Two <p>If the method above doesn't work, you can also try to enter Boot Menu to boot the locked computer from the burned CD/DVD as follows:<br /> <ul> <li>1. Insert a Windows 7 password recovery CD in your locked computer.</li> <li>2. Start the locked computer and immediately tap and keep tapping<b><span> </span>F8</b>,<span> </span><b>ESC</b><span> </span>or other keys until the Boot Menu screen appears.</li> <li>3. LG bios password locked

BIOS passwords can be reset in two ways:

1. using software 2. using hardware.

I would first try resetting using software, here are two software apps to reset or retrieve BIOS passwords.

!BIOS - is a PC BIOS toolkit offering password removal/decrypt and BIOS settings modification/backup/restore.
You can download it here:

CmosPwd - Cmos password recovery tools

Hp laptop 6720s indicates power-on password with a key icon

Sounds like the hard drive was locked, or the BIOS was locked. If the hard drive was locked, you must replace the hard drive. if the BIOS was locked you willl need to reset the bios. You can likely remove the CMOS battery to reset the bios.

Its locked and needs a code

Is it locked it in BIOS or in Windows? If it's locked in BIOS, you will need to open up the laptop and locate the jumper and remove the CR2032 battery from the motherboard.

If it's locked in Windows, you would need to re-install Windows again to reset the password.

But if it's locked because of the product key code, then you will need to call up Microsoft automated telephone line. Just have the internet access ready.

Laptop locked

You have an Power on Password.
The Power on Password is set up from the BIOS configuration and the password is stored on an EEPROM chip. Removing the BIOS battery will not reset the BIOS password, there are no backdoor password available.
There is a way to retrieve the password, but it requires a bit of electronic skill and a working computer to achieve this.

I set the power on password on my ibm 600e and now cant turn it off. How do I do that

go to www.ibm.com go to support page, download the service manual of your model first, it will show you how to reset your bios password or remove your bios passord, usually remove the bios password, it is your CMOS battery (look like a calculator battery) unplug it, and put it back on again, your bios password should disappear. make sure remove the battery first.
