Printers themselves are not of any direct association to operating systems. Pure it may be easier to operate them with some OS's but any printer can work with almost any OS, given the right drivers. If you have a laptop then you can set up a wireless connection with your printer using a router, or connect it directly to the laptop when needed using a usb cable. If you can provide me with the model number of the printer and tell me whether or not you have a router, i can assist you further.

How can I print to my HP Color LaserJet 3550 from my Windows 7 Home Premium OS Toshiba Satellite C655 Laptop. The printer works, but HP says there are no drivers to support it. How can this be? Please...

If Hp does not have a drivr to support it then you are out of luck unless you find someone that hacked drivers to work with it. If they have Windows Vista drivers, you can try those but they are not goign to guarantee to work.

not all equipment from Xp works with vista or 7. Xp is not the same OS or even same breed as Vista/7

Laptop running XP desires to connect to desktop running windows 7-driver needed for HP 2840 color laserjet before connection to windows 7 desktop-is driver put on laptop or desktop

There is no driver for win 7, although if you are running on windows 7 32bit there is a work around. Download the software for windows vista 32 bit for the 2840.

Have HP Deskjet 940c on Windows 7. Only drivers available are from Win 7 but those drivers no longer display ink levels. What does?

Find another computer (laptop?) that is running Windows XP or Vista. Install the HP device-drivers.
Connect the printer to that other computer, and use the software to display the ink-levels.

Vista cannot connect to xp printer

It sounds like your are using your Windows XP computer as the print server, and you are trying to connect your Windows Vista machine to the Windows XP print server. Your Vista machine is trying to download the XP drivers from the Windows XP computer to your Vista machine. This won't work. Windows XP and Vista print drivers are not compatible.

If the printer is truely networked (it has it's own IP address on the network, it has its own ethernet connection). Then instead of trying to map out to this shared printer, add new printer to the Vista machine using Vista drivers for the HP Deskjet 3940. The type of port you would need is a standard TCP/IP port. To get this address, print a settings page from the printer. Look for either a TCP/IP address or IP address on this print out. This is the port address you want to create and then connect to.

Connecting Toshiba laptop using windows vista to C7180

Hi there i know that HP are updating a lot of the drivers at the moment you could try the following websites

www.hp.com (Free download)
www.drivers.com (Small charge)

I hope one of those helps but also try the XP driver as may vista might work on XP driver technology.

Thanks J
