Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

The printer won't turn on. I plugged it directly into an outlet and the little green light on the "power" box lights up so I know it's getting power. The problem seems to be with the connection from the power cord to the printer. There is a purple end with 3 little holes. Each hole should have a tiny copper piece but 1 is missing. Maybe this is the problem.

At the risk of destroying the power supply if the power to the printer is low voltage try a small piece of aluminium foil pressed into where you think the copper should be and see if that makes the printer go. Make sure it doesn't short to any other pins and only do it if you know what you are doing. If it works have someone change the plug or buy a new power adapter. If you aren't sure what to do don't do this.

Try pressing the power a little longer for the printer to start.

Printer wont switch on

Try to plug the printer into a different known working power outlet in the wall. Bypass any power surge devices or power strips - these tend to draw away power from the printer.

My printer won't turn on. I have tried turning everything off and back on but it still won't turn on.

There is only one way to find out if it is an issue with the printer or the Power cord or Power Adapter.

Normally every HP printer has 2 parts. One cord connects the Printer to an Adapter. the Adapter cord then connects to the Wall outlet.

Now that you have connected the printer to working outlet, Check after 10-15 mins if the Adapter ( black box ) is warm or cold. If the Adapter is warm and the green LED light on adapter is glowing, then it could an issue with the Cord or the Printer.

Try with another Adapter or power cord to diagnose.

For Other brand printers, there should be a power adapter ( black box ) and it should be warm when connected to wall outlet, if it is not warm then it is defective power adapter that you need to replaced. Else it is a problem with printer mechanism.

I have a HP Deskjet D1560, and with the power cord plugged into a working outlet (I checked), the printer won't turn on. Is it just old? Is something wrong with the power cord or the printer?

The lexmark x5450 printer will not power up. The power source (black box ) is putting out 30 volts when pluged in and the little green light on the power box is on.Now what?

Great job on checking the little green light on the printer's power adapter. Just make sure the printer is plugged in straight to the power outlet in the wall, bypass any surge device or power strip as they tend to draw away power. Make sure to plug the power adapter in the correct position and properly secure it behind the printer. If it won't automatically turn on, press the power button on the operator panel. If problem persists, printer may have hardware problem. I suggest you contact Lexmark Technical Support to further investigate the problem. Thanks.

My printer will not turn on

Hi,
you can try plugging the printer to a different known working power outlet in the wall. If still not turning on, try to unplug the power supply (black box) behind the printer where the power cord is plugged in but the other end still plugged in the power outlet in the wall. The power supply should have a green indicator light on. If not, check any physical defects on the cord or the power supply itself. If on, plug it back in and make sure to plug it in correct position in the slot. Note that it can be plugged in incorrectly so just double-check the position of the power supply itself. Hope this helps.
