I'd say it's a pretty good sign that your hard drive is dead. (I hope you have backups)
It's pretty easy to replace.

There is a panel with one screw on the side underneath this model laptop. You can remove the screw and pull the drive bracket out with the drive in it. You can remove the drive from the bracket and buy a 2.5" EIDE laptop drive to put in. From there you can reinstall Windows from your system disk.

When removing and replacing drive, keep in mind there may be a plastic pin adapter on the old drive that you will want to put on the new drive....be careful not to bend the pins.

Get message internal hard disk drive not

This may mean that your computer is trying to boot from a non-bootable drive. Try hitting f12 when you restart the computer and select which drive would have your OS on it. You want to change the boot sequence to diskette drive as your 1st choice. The order should be Diskette Drive, Internal HDD, USB storage Device, CD/DVD drive.

If you have a hard drive issue, you need a new hard drive and then download the OS from windows, linux or whomsoever, then the drivers from Dell.

I have no picture. all i see is the words internal hdd hard error! it also says strike f1 key to continue or f2 key to run the setup utility. when i press f1 it say s no bootable devices

It would appear that the hard disk has failed and because the BIOS cannot find a drive, it is getting confused and continually resetting.
Fit a new hard drive and install your OS. Don't forget you will need to install all drivers that are not included on your OS disk.
Hope that helps.

Says my computer has no bootable devices--strike F1 to retry boot. F2 for setup utility. Press F2 and the computer advises no hard drive is present. There is a 100gb hdd installed.

But unfortunately the HDD is not detected in the computer.
Reset BIOS.
Check your hard drive connections.
Change the cables if it is a desktop.
If all these fail to resolve the issue, check the hard drive.

Call Dell if under warranty. Start shopping for a replacement hdd if outside of warranty. You'll need
your OS disks that came with computer (hopefully). If you don't have OS/recovery disks, you can get
them from Dell or even using somebody elses (match version with sticker on your laptop).

Check the hdd connection underneath laptop - make sure cable is not loose, etc.

Probably safe to say your data is gone unless you're willing to spend $$.

Internal HDD hard error

By your description it is very likely your hard drive finally failed. You probably looking at total data loss unless you have made recently an backup of it. You will have to get a new HD and then you can install your OS and software.

Another more remote possibility is that when you opened some covers, you accidentally disturbed the HD connection causing this problem.

Just for clarification, was there a lot of dust inside ?

Hope this helps.
