Question about Canon PowerShot A95 Digital Camera

2 Answers

No image at all. Almost like a cover is on the lens!

It only happened today.

The camera was working fine and then all of a sudden, when about to take a photo, the lcd presented no image. I couldn't see a thing and when taking a photo, the result was simply a blank screen! Not using the lcd and instead taking a photo using the view-finder simply provided the same - a black screen.

Everything else seems fine. I can check previous photos (the image is fine), zoom works, all else is ok, menus etc.

Naturally this makes it impossible to take photos and I'm wondering whether any experts out there can suggest something that can bring my camera back to full functionality - my wife bought me the Canon A95 as a present a few years ago and it means a lot to me. I don't want to relegate it to the camera cemetary just yet.

Help please!!!

I have the same problem. One day the camera was working fine - the next time I went to use it, although it does turn on and the zoom extends - no display and no images. Does anyone know if there is an internal battery that has to be replaced by a pro shop?

same issue it looks like a lens cover is on except for a faint purple light in background. When i have turned it off and on a number of times it has corrected itself and did not do it for awhile. Now its doing it again.

Canon repairs this fault free of charge. Locate your near service centre from the Canon website and contact them. Good Luck

Hi, I am the individual (RDAVINCI) who posted this problem initially and thought that since others have experienced the same problem, it would be wise to provide an update.

I had hoped to find a resolution to the problem and sent my camera to Canon hoping that it was something that could be resolved easily. Unfortunately not and with the labour and parts, it was going to cost me in excess of £100 for a repair. It didn't seem financially prudent and I decided to leave my camera with them rather than pay for the return cost too with no benefit. So no happy ending, sorry folks.

I've now got a Sony H5 which is superb and so far so good.

Good luck to all of you who are experiencing the same problem and hope you manage to find that elusive remedy that may also be cost effective.

Regards
RDAVINCI

Fuji Finepix F30 Suddenly takes only all pink screens (no image)

This sounds like one of two problems -
Either an LCD screen problem or a bad CCD sensor.
A LCD screen problem would indicate one of two of the following - it was cracked, or the cable inside is either damaged or moved out of the plug and need to be reseated.

A bad CCD sensor would show a pink screen on cameras, but would also show menus on the screen as well, do you see those? The CCD basically captures the image the lens is seeing and translates it to an image the camera can save. Generally the CCD can not be replaced separately from the lens and will require an entire lens assembly for repair.

Ouch!
  1. Make sure lens is clean on both ends. Use a lens cleaner NOT glass cleaner & use a cleaning glasses cloth. No paper.
  2. If that does not solve problem you have moisture (condensation )on you image pickup. you can take lens off let camera air out place clean lent free towel over opening to keep particles out off camera.
  3. If that does not work you will have to have it cleaned by a repair shop.
Going from hot or clod environments or wet climates can cause moisture to gather on image sensor & inside camera always try to keep camera in a camera bag & avoid sudden temperature changes.

Lens cover opens only a **** on Sony DSC-W80

Please read carefully below procedure how to remove "Barrier Block" (what you call Lens Cover)..
Turn camera power ON so Lens will extend.
Take out battery so lens will remain extended.
First silver ring needs to be removed with help of tweezers as shown in below image..

Now you will see 2 screws at front of lens, unscrew to remove barrier block (lens cover) as shown in below image..

You need to have new barrier block with following part number..

A-1205-001-A BARRIER BLOCK ASSY

Subject part is available in Part Store

Install new barrier block as shown following image..

Insert battery and power up camera to check does barrier block works fine.
Need further info, let me know.
Good luck.

I have a kodak easyshare camera that quit working and I can't find a repair shop. I was using the camera one day and I turned it off but the lens would not go back in and I could not take anymore pictues....

Theres a problem with all kodak cameras where the swith suddenly stops working. Same thing happened to mine and i had to send it in to be repaired. Now im having another problem where the lens simply stopped working, Everything else appears to be fine but theres no image to be seen and snapping a picture just gives you a black image.

A black shadow half way down the frame

http://www.lotek.nu/misc/EOS_300D_sub-mirror_repair/

2 cent plastic pin holding AF sub-mirror broke. See above. Unfortunately Canon charges a bit above 2 cents to fix it. Saving pennies on plastic instead of metal will make Canon a boatload of money because they will all break eventually. Of course if everyone changes manufacturer on their next camera this might backfire.

Canon Powershot A75 blurred LCD display

It sounds like the focus element in your lens is not functioning properly. Does the lens retract completely when you turn off the camera? When you push the button does the camera attempt to focus the image? If you do not see any change in the image when you push the button, and do not hear any sound - then your focus motor is either jammed or malfunctioning. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
