Try using another USB port on your pc, if not, you may need to reinstall the iPod Drivers.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Will not turn on or recognised by my computer

Hi. It sounds like you have an iPod Nano 3rd generation? First thing I would try to do is to disconnect the iPod from your computer (unless it already is), then hold down the Menu button on the iPod wheel (the upper space on it) followed by holding down the Selection button on the iPod wheel (the center button). After holding down these two buttons for 2-6 seconds, it should try to restart again. I would recommend trying to reconnect the iPod to your computer again after doing so, while iTunes is open on your computer.
Good luck, I hope it fixes your problem.

I still need help

Here's a link to Apple's site on how to restore your iPod: A local Apple store should be able to help you with this also. If you don't have one close to you, feel free to get ahold of one of our techs at Wired Extreme.

My iPod 160 GB Classic is stuck with just Apple logo on screen. Initially, my MacBook recognised my iPod but now it won't even recognise it. It won't restore it and message suggested I need to use updated...

Try forcing the iPod into disc mode to restore.
Putting ipod into disc mode Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 6 seconds until the Apple logo appears. When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.
Connect the iPod to your computer; the screen on the iPod will change and say "Do not disconnect" If you are having difficulty putting the iPod model into disk mode, set it on a flat surface. Make sure that the finger pressing the Select button is not touching the Click Wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Play/Pause button toward the outside of the Click Wheel and not near the center.
If you are still unable to put your iPod with a Click Wheel into Disk Mode, use one finger from one hand to press the Select button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Play/Pause button.
If this does not make the iPod connect to your computer, I would suggest checking out for further ideas and options to your issue.

Does one have to have apple computer for ipod one touch

Are you going to ( to download the latest version of iTunes? Also I would suggest attempting the download with your firewall/anti-virus software disabled. As they can sometimes cause the itunes download to not complete or download with missing files. They are not viruses but sometimes the different softwares will think they are malicious. You do not have to own an apple computer to use an apple iPod. Just make sure that your Operating System on your PC is up to date an you should be good to go. If your not downloading iTunes version then it's not the latest version. :)

I pod touch

ipods are only designed for itunes so windows shouldn't recognise media player, any way, the new software for ipod touches is greater, meaning your computer/windows media player wont recognise it, only itunes will.
