How do i upload test results from my lt8600t tester to my PC. I have USB ports in my PC no serial port. What do i need?

Ah, yes, I too used Waveteks back in the old days and I still have old PCs with serial cards in them which typically came with the PC. They were never really all that expensive to replace.
Anyway, newer PCs typically lack serial (DB9) ports/cards; and simply using a USB-to-DB9 adapter on a device designed to use a DB9 interface won't help the PC "find" the unit attached to it. Theres no easy "plug-and-play" there. The PC wants to have drivers for the unit installed manually, then with some luck something will show up in Device Manager. Conversely the old Wavetek wants to see X number of pins, etc. or it will assume somethings wrong.

There are a few "USB to RS-232 DB9 Serial Drivers" (e.g. "Prolific" brand) to be downloaded here and there, I can't tell how effective they are, depending on your PC hardware/software.

I cannot install the above mentioned scanner since the driver is unspecified

IF IT IS USB BARCODE SCANNER, DO THESE:

1.

Locate the USB connector on the bar code scanner. Bar code scanners, like other computer peripherals, connect to the computer by way of a data cable. At the end of the data cable, most likely opposite the scanner itself, should be a small rectangle-shaped plastic and metal connector. This connector is the USB terminal that will plug in to the computer's USB port.
2.
Locate the USB port on the computer. The USB port, whether on the computer or a peripheral device, will be rectangular in shape and feature either the letters "U S B" or a small network diagram showing two circles, a square, and an arrow.
3.
Connect the USB cable to the computer or peripheral device. Once the USB connector and port have been identified, push the USB connector firmly but gently into the available USB port. USB connectors are keyed so that they can only be inserted the correct way; if you feel solid resistance while inserting the USB connector, remove the connector from the port, turn it over and plug it in.
4.
Install bar-code reading software. While the bar code scanner can scan the bar code into the machine, software must decipher the meaning of the code. Bar code scanners, if purchased new, should include a version of proprietary bar code software compatible with your scanner. If your scanner did not come with software, or if it is missing the installation disc, bar code software may be purchased on the Internet from sites like WaspBarcode.com.

TO INSTALL A SERIAL BAR CODE SCANNER, DO THESE:

1.

Locate the serial connector on the bar code scanner. Bar code scanners, like other peripherals, connect to the computer by way of a data cable. At the end of the serial cable should be a rectangular, typically male connector. The cable may be pinned with nine, sixteen, or more pins depending on the design of the scanner.
2.
Locate the serial port on the computer. Most computers have at least one serial port, usually found on the back of the machine. The port will be female, maybe blue in color, rectangular in shape, and should be approximately the same size (or slightly smaller) as the serial connector.
3.
Connect the serial cable to the computer or connected peripheral. When both the connector and port have been identified, push the serial connector firmly but gently into the port. Like USB connectors, serial connectors are keyed so that they can only be inserted the correct way; if you feel solid resistance while inserting the connector, remove the connector from the port, turn it over and plug it in. Do not use excessive force while pushing on the serial connector, as it is possible to bend the connecting pins and damage the connector.
4.
Install bar-code reading software. While the bar code scanner can scan the bar code into the machine, software must interpret the meaning of the code. Bar code scanners, if purchased new, should include a version of proprietary bar code software compatible with your specific scanner. If your scanner did not come with software, or if it is missing the installation disc, bar code software may be purchased on the Internet from sites like WaspBarcode.com.

Can i connect my xbox to my laptop /w pc usb

Xbox Network Connection using Hub

This is the most common network configuration and is also the easiest to setup.
Step #1: Plug your network cable(RJ-45 cable) that comes from your cable/DSL modem into the uplink port of your hub. (Make sure that your uplink is switched to "on").
Step #2: Take an RJ-45 cable and run it from one of the ports of the hub, directly to the Network Interface Card (NIC) installed in your computer.
Step #3: Take another RJ-45 cable and run it from a different port of your hub directly to your xbox.
**NOTE** A switch may be used in place of a hub with the same basic setup.**

That's it! No other network changes should be needed for this configuration. Your Xbox is now on the same network as your PC.

Xbox Network Connection using Router

This is another common network configuration.
Step #1: Plug your network cable(RJ-45 cable) that comes from your modem into the WAN port of your router.
Step #2: Take an RJ-45 cable and run it from one of the ports of the router, directly to the Network Interface Card (NIC) installed in your computer.
Step #3: Take another RJ-45 cable and run it from a different port of your router directly to your xbox.

**NOTE** In steps #2 and #3, you should not use a port that is directly beside the "uplink" port on your router, if your uplink port is being used to connect to another routing device.** If your router has a built in firewall, you will need to forward ports 8602 both incoming and outgoing to the internal ip address of your pc. Consult your device manaul for port forwarding.

That's it! Your Xbox is now on the same network as your PC

Xbox Network Connection using Crossover Cable

This is the last network configuration. For this setup you need at least one NIC card.
Step #1: Plug your USB cable that comes from your modem into your PC's USB port. This should already be done, if you have a usb modem for your current internet connection.
Step #2: Take an RJ-45 cable and run it from an installed NIC card on your PC, directly to the Xbox.

**NOTE** A crossover cable is only needed if you are connecting the Xbox directly to the second NIC card. If you have a device such as a switch, hub or router in between you should use a standard RJ-45 cable. This type of network setup also requires "Winroute©", a program downloadable from the world wide web. Consult the manual for specific instructions on how to set this up. Also if you have a USB ethernet adapter, you may use any of the setups described herein. USB ethernet adapter basically converts a USB cable into an RJ-45 cable.

That's it! Your Xbox is now on the same network as your PC.

Cannot install java on samsung i640

Im very sorry Dude

  • It is NOT officially possible to install java MIDlets on samsung handsets (excluding smartphones) via bluetooth, IrDa, USB cable or serial cable. MIDlets can only be downloaded by Over-The-Air (OTA) via a download server
  • There is currently no method for installing MIDlets on other platforms other than by OTA/GPRS via a download server.
BUT THERE ARE SOME UNOFFICIAL METHOD PLEASE TRY THIS BUT RISK IS WITH U.

Install JAVA games on your Samsung via a USB cable, BT or even an IR port
The method here is rather straightforward. It has been tested on my two D500 phones without a single problem biggrin.gif

1. Download and install Softick PPP from here. The software is designed for Palm users, so if you receive any error messages such as unable to locate USBPORT.dll, just ignore them.

2. Active your IR connection or hook your USB cable into the phone.
For IR users, you need to active the IR connection on both of your laptop and D500, and approach the laptop with your D500 to let it find the phone prior to any transferring.
For USB connection, the one I tested is from fonefunshop

3. Start Softick PPP, and check if it has your connection in its 'Settings->Bluetooth/Serial'. Active it if done.

4. Run 'Uploader.exe' program and add a jad file.

5. Enable Serial Java download - #*536963#.

6. Enter Serial Java menu #*5737425#, and choose USB from "1 PPP UP'. Please bear in mind, just do it once for each switch on/off!
Select second option - "2.Serial Download"

7. Let upload and softick PPP access the net if you installed a firewall.

-More details--------------------------------------------------------

If you are using a USB cable, please take the following steps:

1. deactive Softick PPP, and exit it.
2. connect the cable,
3. run Samsung's PIM & File Manager to make sure that you get connected. If not, please switch off and on your mobile and try it again.
4. run Softick PPP
5. go to it's 'Settings->Bluetooth/Serial' to check if it has a connection such as COM7 Devicess_mdm0. If so, select it, otherwise exit the Softick PPP and go back to the first step. (you may find the proper COM setting from the windows device manager->modems->Samsung Mobile USB modem)
6. active Softick PPP.
7. run Uploader.exe
8. ......

For IR users,

1. deactive Softick PPP, and exit it.
2. active your IR connection。
3. approach your phone to the laptop, and make sure there displays an icon in your tray area and it gives a message 'there is a device around....'
4. run Samsung's PIM & File Manager to make sure that you get connected via IR. If not, please switch off and on your mobile and try it again.
5. run Softick PPP.
6. enable IRDA interface support in 'Settings->Options'
7. go to it's 'Settings->Bluetooth/Serial' to check if it includes a connection such as 'COM4 Device

Camera not communicating with computer

First of all; to all users.
You do not need to purchase any software at all.

If you run XP you might not need the usb driver for your camera either.
If you run Vista, then older cameras have a (USB) driver problem with the system.
If you run win 2000, ME, Win 98 then you do need the usb-driver and a simple imaging program.

There is a simple solution for all cameras which have connection problems.
Buy a card reader (they are cheap), connect via usb, install the driver if required, insert the memo disk from your camera - and that is it -.
The best free imaging program is PICASA3 from Google.
You can create Albums, manipulate images, import and export plus many other things for non professionals.

INTRODUCTION
Today, with the set standards of V.90, purchasing a modem is a much less confusing task and sometimes considered easy.
Before purchasing a modem, take the below into consideration. Today, with the popularity of the Internet and multimedia over the Internet, broadband is becoming widely available. If available in your area, you may want to consider purchasing a broadband solution, such as DSL available through a phone or third-party company, Cable available through your local cable provider, Satellite available through a third-party, or through a large ISP such as MSN or AOL.
If a broadband connection is not available in your area, below are some recommendations to consider when purchasing a computer modem.
STANDARDS
Originally, when the 56k connection was introduced, there was not a set standard between two major modem manufacturers, causing there to be two different technologies, X2 and KFlex. Each of these technologies allowed for a modem to connect at higher speeds, but only if the Internet Provider supported the technology. Because of the difficulties and issues with these two different technologies, one technology emerged out of the two, called V.90. This technology will allow users of any brand of modem to connect at higher speeds.
Today all modems (purchased new) are V.90 and this is no longer a concern. Additional information and history about each of these technologies can be found on our Modem Standard page.
INTERFACE
Interface can be an important when considering purchasing a modem. It is important that your computer has the available connections and resources when purchasing a modem.
PCI / ISA (Internal) – PCI / ISA modems are modems that are found in most computers today. These modems are installed internally into the computer with an available connection on the back of the modem for the phone line.
When purchasing this type of modem it is important that you verify your computer has the available connection for this modem within the computer (PCI or ISA). In addition, verify that your computer has the available resources. You can sometimes have difficulties installing a modem if a serial device, such as a Serial mouse or Serial PDA, is connected to the computer.
Serial (External) – A serial modem connects to the serial port located on the back of the computer. These modems are generally easy to install; however, they can cost more than an internal modem as you pay additional money for the plastic cover.
When purchasing this type of modem it is important that you verify your computer has an available serial connection on the back of the computer; devices such as a serial mouse may already be utilizing your serial port. Some computers may have two serial ports; if this is the case and only one serial port is currently being utilized, verify that the second port can be enabled or is already enabled in CMOS.
PC Card (PCMCIA) – Solution used with portable computers, PC Card modems are fairly cheap and relatively easy to install in the computer.
If a modem is already present in your portable computer but you wish to upgrade or the internal modem has gone bad, it is important that you verify the pre-existing modem can be disabled before installing the new modem.
USB – A new solution, USB allows a user to install up to 127 devices on the computer and is available for PC and Mac. Before purchasing this solution, verify that your computer has a USB connection. If no USB connection is available, an additional card will need to be installed in the computer.
CONNECTION
The connection can differ depending upon the type of modem purchased with the computer.
Internal / External / USB modem – Today, all modems have a RJ-11 connection, which is a standard phone connection, on the modem. If important to you, verify that the modem has two available RJ-11 connections. One of these connections will connect the modem to the phone and the other can be used for an office phone. This can be very useful for a home or office computer that may need a phone next to it.
PC Card modem – When purchasing a PC Card modem, the connection can be a very important factor consideration. Below we have listed the pros and cons of each of these connection types.
Dongle – A commonly found solution for PC Card modems, but a very burdensome solution. The Dongle is an additional cord that connects from the PC Card to a small opening for a RJ-11 connection. While a good thought, we find that these connections get lost often. The pro of this solution is a very sturdy connection and a solution that will allow only a Type II slot to be used, allowing and additional slot free for another card.
Standard – Standard connection, like a desktop modem, allows for a phone line to be connected directly to the modem. This solution allows for no additional cables. The con to this solution is that these cards will generally occupy your complete PCMCIA slot, although Xircom offers a solution that will not.
Xjack – An excellent solution for Portable computers, the Xjack by 3COM allows users a similar connection to the standard connection without the use of any additional accessories or lost space. The con to this solution is that the Xjack can be damaged very easily.

Good Luck ! Read and follow instructions/Please dont for get to Vote/Thank You.
