Change the fuel filters and loosen the lines going to the injector and crank the engine to bleed the fuel lines. When fuel starts to come out tighten the lines and it should start. If fuel does not come out it might be a bad fuel pump or injector pump.

Son ran it out of fuel ,put fuel in ,will crank wont run ,lots of air in fuel lines have bled at injector pump and injector ,changed filters ,


you need to ensure the connection between tank and pump is absolutely clear of air and tank bottom debris. (I am guessing the vehicle is diesel?
Ensure there is plenty of fuel in the tank to circumvent the introduction of more air.
Check that the pump is actually pumping fuel and had not broken
If it is connect the fuel pipe but disconnect from the engine end.
Crank engine until fuel arrives then stop cranking and connect pipe ensuring some fuel is left in the pipe. Connect it securely to prevent air ingress.

Get another vehicle with jumper leads to give you a boost. Connect up the cables with both engines stoppd, (yesm I know,) otherwise the vehicle can suffer alternator rectifier damage.
The second vehicle should then start and the engine revs held at a fast idle while the broke vehicle cranks over.

You should do this even if the broken vehicle has a good battery.
As the fuel is pumped through the air should be bled... ensure that no air is introduced at the rail/injectors.
It should, eventually , work. The fuel will absorb some air but if there is lots of it in the system the vehicle just will not start.

Making sure the fuel is clear of air upto the injector rail may help you to get it started.

I have a 99 cadillac deville it turns over, cranks up but won't stay cranked i replaced the starter and the plugs it still wont stay cranked


Antitheft or Security system failure is a common problem on GM vehicles. Every time you put your key in the ignition, the vehicle's security system reads the signal from your key to make sure it is OK to run. When it receives the "correct key" signal, the security system allows the starter to turn over, and/or the fuel injectors to function and your car works like it normally does every day. If you were to use a different key, or try to hot wire it, the system would shut down these parts of your car, thus making the vehicle completely immobile. This is GM's way of preventing vehicle theft. The problem is that the system is known to fail quite commonly. It has been failing consistently for around 30 years. When it fails, two things can happen. First, you turn the key and nothing happens at all. Lights work, radio works, windows work... just not the starter that you need to start the vehicle. This is a "starter immobilizer". Second, you turn the key and the vehicles starts just fine, but then stalls in 2-5 seconds. This is a "fuel immobilizer". It literally cuts off the fuel injectors and stalls the vehicle to immobilize it. These are normally, but not always followed by a light on the dash that says SECURITY or ANTITHEFT. These lights are to inform you of the system's failure to collect the information it needs from your key to the computer. If your security/antitheft light is on, odds are you will be stranded soon, if not already. Remember that the security system controls the security light. Will not start


chek in this order.
Fuel pump primes when car key is turned to 2nd position? is fuel getting to the injectors?
spark?
it should start.. and if it dosent.. you have a lot more to check. lol
further on..
compression on cylinders? should all be within 15% of one onother unless you have Variable valves.. and lifter pressure could be low.. will be sorted when the car runs for a bit on its own.
vehicle immobilizer?
injector pulse?
clear any ECU faults..
Crank angle sensor?
cam angle sensor?
enough fuel pressure to injectors?
Blocked catalytic converter?

What is the fuel pressure from the main pump to the engine.trying to be certain that my fuel have the require pressure for starting


Is the 30 ltr engine diesel? If so what was the reason and changed the Injectors? Did you follow the correct procedure to renew the injectors? This engine has two oil pumps. One is for the engine and the second one is the high pressure for the injection cranking system. On starting the engine and trying to start are you sure you receive the correct oil pressure to cause the injectors to open? If everything is okey,go to crank or cam sensor or even to the accelerator pedal.Also is better to clean the throttle body from any dirt. Use a scanner to give you the fault .Also bear in mind that these vehicles are fitted with the following secret,if you have a blown brake lights fuse or brake lights bulbs will not start,just engine turn and no engine run. It is the immobilizer activation. Do not over 32 times crank start otherwise you will loose ecu.

Ran out of diesel now vehicle won't start


This is not unusual on a diesel. What happens is there is air in the system. If this vehicle has an electric fuel pump loosen line where fuel enters injection pump then turn ignition key to the on position and watch for fuel to appear and then quickly tighten line before turning off key. Then try to start. If does not have electric fuel pump will need a second person. One will loosen line and watch while other cranks vehicle until you get fuel and tighten line before the other person releases ignition switch unless vehicle starts first. If that doesn't do the job do this where line hooks onto each injector. Probably will not have to do this to all injectors but could run rough until all the air gets out of everything. I have farmed with diesel tractor for 25 years and dad I drove the gm vehicles with the 5.7. You normally don't start a diesel without bleeding the air out of the lines although some will self bleed most won't. Hope this does the trick.

Colt 2.8 TDI idel normal for about 10 min and then white smoke out of exhaust and then iratic idling.


difficult to diagnose ,would need to put a pressure tester on radiator and see what happens as white smoke is water vapour,unless its diesel as people often describe white smoke buts its a light grey which is fuel ,although the question does say TDI so am i to assume its a diesel turbo injection ,if it is then to think some more i would need to know if it has an injector pump or if its common rail .because you can have two completely different answers

Car will not start - Daewoo Nubira


my daewoo nubira sedan year 2000 model will not start foe some reason i try to hit the button on my immobilizer to switch it off but it does nothing and that red light near the dash keeps flashing anyone no how to solve this problem?
