Hi Scottiessm,
Yes, rusted parts affect the contact from the battery. You can use a smooth sandpaper or a blade to scratch the rusted parts. Then test it using the digicam to confirm if functioning http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlTIrVQjaY8.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

suspect battery problems. THe positive terminal developes a hard black coating inside the lead terminal and around the battery post Remove this using rough sand papaer to a shiny finish on both units . Repeat the operation on the negative terminal. Try the starter again. If still nothing turn on the head lights try again noticing if the head lights go dim. IF they do check if the battery is charged OK then you have a problem in the starter motor IF it works some times and not at others you probably have a dead bar on the communator which means a replacement s-motor

IXUS 80 IS is not getting powered ON after recharging its battery fully.

There are 2 things that can cause this to happen. First of all, the battery may not be making a very good contact with the terminal points with which it comes in contact with. This might be due to a shift in the terminals or rusting or even tiny dust particles that could be piling up around the terminals of both the device and the battery. The easiest way to go about this is by using a soft piece of cloth to clean the battery and device terminals properly. Do not use an liquid on the battery terminals but you can use rust removers on the device's terminals. Also try using a fan or blower to remove any dust particle.
On the other hand, if you have been using this battery for a long period of time, it might have expended its life span and as such requires a replacement. If it was replaced, it might not be the correct replacement that was made. Ensure you are using the correct battery by going through your manual carefully.

My remote will not work the tv anymore

Hi,

there are three possible causes for this problem;

1. Batteries may be dead inside the remote.
2. Remote might be defctive.
3. TV remote sensor/infrared might be defective.

Battries; Simply insert new batteries into the remote and try again. If changing batterises doesn't help, problem as to be from the Remote or TV's infrared.

Remote: Check the remote battery terminal, see if its not rust. Also, disassemble the remote, can check the connection between the terminal and the remote board, see if there is no disconnection of any kind.

If after checking and all seems well, then it means the remote is defective. To confirm, borrow a remote, test it with the TV. If it works, then it means you need to replace your remote. But if the remote you borrowed does not work, then it means the problem is from the TV and not the remote.

TV: There is a sensor in the TV that communicates with the remote. If this sensor is defective, the remote won't communicate with the TV.

The TV sensor might have loosed contact from inside of the TV or it maybe defective and need to be replaced.

So do the above troubleshooting and let me know if the problem is from the TV or remote. If problem is from the remote, you need to do a replacement. But if otherwise, let me knows as well.

Yours sincerely

Your problem lies in the fuse box that is rusted. this needs to be thoroughly cleaned. (Wire brush) Any rust or corossion between terminals will cause continuity and short out or give power where it is not supposed to be.

Sharp EL-9900 wont start after replacing batteries.

Hi,

when you said it suddenly died, do you means after putting in new batteries,it did not turn on at all? If yes, below are some reasons for this problem;

Check the batter seat. I mean the position where the battery stays, look if you will find any rust of the battery terminal (metal). Rust can prevent the battery from contacting the unit, preventing it from receiving power. Get a flat screw driver, scratch the rust off, fix the battery back in and try again.

If there is no rust, then there is probably some disconnection inside the unit. This can be between the battery terminal and the board. Get a screw driver and remove all the screw. Take the unit apart and check for any lose contact between the battery terminal and the board.

I hope the above makes sense to you.......

Regards.
