Question about Facebook Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I am new to all this. I tried to set up Facebook on my iphone, it said an email would be sent to my pc and everything went south from there. I can no longer access my facebook from my pc. I don't want to use a new password and it won't accept the one I have been using. I thought I might have forgotten it so I accessed 'forgot password' to reset it. I thought it meant it would take me back to my original setup but now I have more emails and I don't understand any of them. I filled in on-screen forms and got myself in deeper. I am now lost between my pc and my iphone. I need simple answers. I don't yet understand computer-speak.

Let's start from the beginning.

1. Click "Forgot your password?".
On the page that opens, you can choose 3 ways to reset your password. For the purpose of this solution, we are going to use the first method, which is through Email. Enter the email you used to sign up on Facebook. On the next page, click "Reset My Password"

2. Check your email and click the link.
Open your email and read the message with the subject "Facebook Password Reset Confirmation". The message will read something like this:
Hi [yourname],
You recently asked to reset your Facebook password. To complete your request, please follow this link:
[link]
Alternately,... etc...
Click [link]

3. Enter your new password. Enter your new password and you're ready to go.

Deleted my original account of Facebook now I can't get it again plus I have extra accounts now that I had started trying to get the original mine back. What can I do?

It is possible to re-activate Facebook accounts that have been deleted or deactivated. Sometimes users may want to re-use old Facebook accounts. This can be done by logging in to the Facebook using the email provided during the registration process along with password. An alert message stating that the user account is no longer active will be displayed. A registration email from Facebook will automatically be sent to the email address provided when logging in to Facebook. In order to re-activate the Facebook account, the internet link in the email sent must be clicked and the corresponding instructions followed.

  • Log in to Facebook with your original email and password
  • A red sign will appear saying that you have tried to log in a deactivated account
  • They will use the email that you used during your original registration and send an email about reactivation!
  • In the email you will find a link, just follow it

How to stop Facebook from sending you email

So this is a pretty common issue I've seen, and frankly it's pretty easy to solve. There are a few ways you can go about it.

First you can disable all of the emails being sent by going to Account> Account Settings > Notifications and just going through and disabling anything being sent to an email. However, in my experience this also disables the notifications sent to you through facebook (the ones in that little world sign), and you may want some of those. Well in that case you can do this:

Go to Account > Account Settings and on the main settings page the third option down is Email, press change. Add a new contact email, it does have to be real, because you do have to be able to see the email (untested: you may even be able to simply use an email generator that allows you to view sent emails).

After confirmation, return to Account > Account Settings > Email and switch your contact email to the new email address.

I think i sent an email to somone that when they opened, it might take them to my facebook page. How do I secure my page? or what do I do?

Facebook doesn't work like that.

Even if you yourself went to a foreign (not used before) computer and entered the same link, you would be prompted for ligin information to access / edit your FB account.

Try this:

Try changing your email address linked to your face book account. go to face book, then to account, then to account settings change email to a new email address. facebook will then send you a confirmation email to your new email address inbox , follow link to confirm . now go back to face book and go back to account , account settings and change the email to the new email address ...dont forget to remove the old (hacked ) email address at this point. Always worked for us.
Hope it works for you as well.

Apparently the software on facebook doesn't recognise your email address as a genuine address. The easiest solution is to set up another email address. If you go to www.google.com you'll see a GMAIL tab. Click on this and you can set up a gmail email account for yourself. After you have set it up you can use your new email address to set up your facebook account. This should solve the problem as gmail is recognised as valid by facebook.
