Two things may be the issue. 1. The camera is broken (return to store) 2. Camera is disabled from the BIOS. To access the bios settings you have to press a key when turning on the laptop (usually and F1 - F12 key or the DEL key) Once in there make sure the camera is not disabled.

I have a lenovo g560 laptop with an integrated camera.but the cam has suddenly stopped working i have tried installing the drivers but of no use.cam is not being displayed in device manager whenever i try...

Sometimes it could be something really simple. I've actually had this same problem before and fixed it with this solution.

1. Go to your Device Manager. To do this, click on your Start button and right-click on My Computer (or Computer if you're running Windows 7). On XP and Vista, select the Hardware tab and then click Device Manager. On Win7, click Device Manager on the left side of the new window.
2. In the Device Manager window, find the Imaging Devices icon in the list and click the drop-down arrow.
3. You should see your camera. Right-click the camera and see if there is an option to "Enable" it. If so, problem solved! If not, try uninstalling the camera and then restarting the computer. When your computer reboots, it will scan for hardware changes and reinstall the camera with the latest drivers. If those drivers don't work, try going to the manufacturer's website and installing the latest drivers listed on their site.

Power drain would be a better solution in this case.
1.first shut down the comp
2.unplug the charger
3. remove the battery
and after press and hold the power button for 60 seconds without any charger and the battery. After the 60 seconds replug the battery and the charger and turn the computer
if it doesn't resolve go to device manager and go to the last option USB controllers and uninstall all the USB related drivers and after that restarted the computer.

My Lenovo brand new laptop's intergerated camera is not working from very next day i bought from Croma stores.

Hi nselva,

There are several reasons why the integrated camera in your laptop is not working. Let me give you the most common reasons why and the necessary troubleshooting to fix the issue. You may want to try the steps below:

1. Webcam is disabled - To enable, press Fn + Esc. A camera icon will appear at the bottom right side of your screen. You might see another icon which is a camera with a slash at the middle this means camera has been disabled.

2. Webcam Software - Kindly check if you have the software for webcam installed in your PC. Software is YOU CAM. It might need to be reinstalled on the system. You may get the You Cam software from this link. Just look for Software and then choose You Cam which is compatible to your OS. Download it to your PC and install it.

3. Webcam Driver - Check if you have webcam driver in Device Manager. If there's none you can get the driver on the same link where the You Cam is. All you have to look for is Camera. Select the driver that's compatible to your OS. If there's already an existing camera driver it's also advisable to uninstall it and install the driver that you can get from the website.

If still camera will not work after doing the steps above you will need to contact Lenovo since this is already a hardware issue. Camera needs replacement.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using Fixya.
