Hi, I purchased a West Marine vhf 550 in the US and having returned to England I am not sure if the mmsi number issued here will work. Also is it possible to reconfigure the set for UK use?

Welcome to FixYa!

The DSC MMSI number can be used internationally as long as it is licensed for such.
Yes it is possible to reconfigure the set, see instructions below.

Different areas of the world use different VHF frequencies, although the channel designation (1-88) may be the same.

There are three modes: USA, International, and Canadian.

Press and hold the UIC key for two seconds to change from USA to International to Canadian Modes in turn.

• When Country Mode is changed, Channel 16 is automatically selected, not the last channel used. (Fig. 6a-6c)
• The Radio Status Display will verify your selection with SEL USA, SEL INTERNATIONAL, and SEL CANADIAN.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Entering my MMSI number i can get to the setup screen but won't go to the next step

Has it ever been setup for a MMSI? If so, I think they can only be set once and need to be cleared by the factory to be ready for a "new" MMSI to be entered.

How to reset uniden 425

Although I'm not entirely sure what you wish to accomplish, I've included the link to the UM425 owners manual.

If you're trying to enter your MMSI number (Page E-26), be aware that it can only be entered TWICE! After that, you must send the radio to Uniden to be reset.

That info is located at the link as well.

Hope this helps you out.

Change MMSI number ? simrad rd 68

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but according to the Owners Manual for this unit: (Page 6),
to erase a previously entered MMSI, the radio must be sent to a Simrad authorized dealer. I suppose this feature was put into effect to cut down on stolen Simrad products.

Hope this is helpful, sorry I couldn't do more for you.

How to reset mmsi number Raymarine 215

This secret code is for the Raytheon / Raymarine RAY 220 VHF. It may work on other Raytheon/Raymarine radios also.

Here you go:

With the Power OFF, Press and HOLD the FUNC, 16/9 and DSC keys while you power ON. Do not release the keys until you hear the audio BEEP which means your done. Then reprogam your NMSI number as per the manual. Pretty easy, hey?

Need to reset the mmsi

Did you ever solve this problem. I have just purchased a little Leisure 17-SL with a fairly new one of theses radios. I have the handbook and discover you can only program the MMSI once and then return to a dealer to clear it!
Many thanks
