Question about Frigidaire GLTF2940E Front Load Washer

Open Question

So my Frigidaire washing machine, model gltf2940e33 is not draining water, so I get an error 20. A guy comes to my house for 3 minutes, tells me its the pump and it will cost $300 total to repair. That's half of what I paid for the damn thing. Could it be the drain is blocked like I read this response...... "Hello, sounds like this is going to be a pump issue, take the lower panel on the front off the machine, there you should see something that resembles a gas cap like on your car. It will be located some where near your pump...Unscrew this cap making sure you have some towels handy to mop up the water that runs out. Once you have pulled out the cap attached you should find a filter cage. You will likely find a bunch of debris, coins, lint and other stuff blocking the pump. Replace this cap or filter and plug machine in and try again, You should be good to go. If this does not fix the problem you are going to need to replace the pump. p.s not sure why you are looking to replace the door latch since you mention the machine is not spinning. The door latch has nothing to do with the spin other then locking. Good Luck!! if you have any toher questions or concerns please feel free to comment again. Mike" Should, I try this before I spend $300. to repair.

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Based on what you've described,...you likely need a door lock/switch assembly.

The door latch is likely the single most common fault (which prevent's any spin, and consequently drenching wet clothing at the end of the cycle) with the frigidaire/electrolux built washer's, aside from pump's being obstructed.

I think it fool's many people because the lock indicates it is energized on the panel, however the built in "monitor" switch inside the assembly fail's. I do see a lot of these particular machine's...unfortunately.

You should be able to purchase one at most local brick & mortar stores or on-line part's depot's such as "searspartsdirect.com" "repairclininc.com" to name a couple. They usually sell for about $50 or so, part # 1531974 ( # at repairclinic.com ) and are relatively easy to replace. It should resemble the image here...

As for replacing said switch, There are a couple ways to access it, through the top and squeezing your arm down the front or the way I prefer, remove the front bellows spring/retainer.

1) **unplug the washer from the wall...safety first of course.**

2) Remove the spring, get it started where the spring is located with a small screwdriver. Once you`ve got the spring/retainer off ( it comes off and on pretty easy by hand ) pull the gasket/bellows back away from the cabinet.

3) Undo the two screws holding the switch to the cabinet, pull the switch out ( there is just enough slack in the wires so don`t pull too hard ) and swap the wires from the old assembly to the new one and you`re in business.

4) To put it back together, just reverse the removal procedure. The trickiest part is the retainer. Rap the retainer around the boot leaving the spring for the last...and make sure the spring is located at the 6 o`clock position...usually. Just wherever it was initially.

Let me know if you need further assistance going forward or if my instructions are not clear.

P.S.
There is a slim chance of a faulty motor or motor control board, but that would not be where I would direct you to start...those are exceptions rather than the rule.

Thank you for visiting FixYa today. Good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

SOURCE: Frigidaire front loader washing machine won't spin...

The problem is a faulty Door Latch Assembly. The same thing happened to my Frigidaire front load washer. The part is easy to install, costs about 60 dollars and can be picked up at most appliance repair stores . To access the switch just remove the wire around the front drum gasket, peel back the rubber gasket beside the switch assembly then remove the two screws holding it in place. remove the three wire connector blocks and swap in the new switch. My washer was giving me error code 41 witch is a faulty control board. But the problem was in fact only the switch...

The washer has a code e 20 come up and stops and want spin

Hello Johnny Cooper -The error code "E20" typically means the water is not draining properly or not pumping out fast enough. Does the washer making a humming noise? If so, either the drain hose may be kinked or the drain in the house is clogged. Once you have confirmed and cleaned the hose and if issue continues contact a professional to move forward accurately. The unit may possibly have a faulty pump or control board.

My Frigidaire Affinity Model atf6000fs0 Washer presents two error codes at beginning of each cycle - EF0 after about one minute and the E10 after a few minutes - cycle stops there. Nothing else happens....

My Affinity (M - ATF6000FS0) fails to an E-20 code. The troubleshooting guide helped; however, the code continues to come in. The drain line is clear to the pump, but the pump sounds like it is failing. Guidance, insight, feedback....please!

I have a Frigidaire front end load washer with an error code 20

E20 is an error code for drainage failure.

Check where the appliance drain hose connects to the house drains for a blockage.

If it's onto a spigot under the sink, take them off and check both for a blockage.

If these are ok then it's likely to be a blockage in the pump.

You'll need to drain the water out manually.

Put a shallow dish below the filter and slacken the filter.

Tighten it to stop the flow of water while you empty the dish.

Once empty, take the filter out, clean out the debris and ensure nothing is left jamming the pump.

Before refitting the filter, put the machine on drain or spin and listen at the filter housing to see if you can hear the pump running.

If you do, fit the filter and try the machine again.

Clogged pump on Affinity Washer

Exactly the same problem. Washed a small area rug that appeared to have pretty much disintegrated. Machine would not drain. Got the same e 20 code. Checked the drain hose, and it was fine. Reamed the house drain just to be sure. Drum appears to have drained, but now the motor runs, and no water enters the machine. Both water hoses are flowing. No further error codes. Nada.

Error codes

I suggest you snake out the drain into which the machine waste hose goes, the standpipe that is. The drain could be blocked somewhere causing pressure problems which is conveyed to the machine. Be sure to replace the machine exit hose at about 3 feet from ground level, and dont shove it too much into the standpipe. Do not block up the point where the machine hose goes into the standpipe, it shouldn't be air tight.
