DWM.EXE is the Destop Window Manager and should be OK, as long as it is the genuine file located in C:\Windows\Ststem32. If it is in another directory then it could be a virus and should be checked. It provides all the fancy 3D graphics and AERO effects.

When you reboot the machine, keep pressing F8. this should give you a menu to boot into safe mode. when in safe mode you should have an option on the charms bar on the right to refresh your pc which will restore it to previous settings without losing your data.

hello, when u want to kill a virus in safe mode, try to kill it first from startup.
first u need a process explorer (this is a program), u can download it from microsoft, this is the link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.
it is portable and u just need to run it and see what process that running.
u can showing the path of the process by -> click 'view' tab, select 'select columns', mark 'image path' box, then OK.

now u can see the path of the process that already running. search one by one to seek suspicious program. (note: u can check it from company name too).

when u have find some suspicious program, u can googling the program name (example: svchost.exe..) to make sure the running program is virus or not.

if u have already define the virus, u can kill the process from safe mode (record the virus path, this useful in final) and delete the registry that created by virus from your registry (use regedit). finally u can remove the virus from your computer, just follow the path from process explorer that u already recorded.

hope this useful, if u still confuse u can list your running program from process explorer and send it to me, i will gladly to help. regard, riyan.

16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem C:\ WINDOWS\system 32\wuauclt.exe The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. CS:Oe57 IP:fff8 OP:fe ff 57 Oe fe Choose 'close' to terminate the application repeated...

wuauclt.exe stays resident in the background and checks Microsoft website for the operating system updates.

Originally, wuauclt.exe is a legitimate system process that is located at C:\Windows\System32, but there are cases when wuauclt.exe is actually a disguised virus, Trojan or a worm.

If you find wuauclt.exe stored anywhere different from its original location, you should get really suspicious and scan your system for possible threats.

Search for the file and see if you have this in more than one location.
Your system might be infected.

Antivirus 2009

I see these every day, note: also fixes AV 2008 and many others.

This Malware is known as "Rogue anti-virus" software.

This program will remove it: http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=5360&file=10&evp=2e0d43eb67e1e71c0b31e62c003599c0
the website that has it also has a really good antispyware program called malwarebytes

www.malwarebytes.org

once you run a full scan in this program run this program:
http://www.superantispyware.com/downloadfile.html?productid=SUPERANTISPYWAREFREE
it's another free antispyware. these are both professional grade removal software for free. I remove this stuff about 3 times a day. It seems this outbreak is the largest I've ever seen.

If you want a good protection suite that will keep it out buy a copy of NOD32 (www.nod32-av.com) another you may not have heard of, it will block this and many others before it even gets on your computer.
