Question about Nokia 5230 Cell Phone

1 Answer

I have a Nokia 5230. Error message is: Low phone memory: delete or move data from C file. I need instructions on moving/deleting data from phone memory file C??? Also, why has this occurred now? Never seen it before, I've had the phone a year. How can I streamline info to be stored on memory card instead of phone.

    Jackpot00,

Thanks for the start. In phone memory details I found:

    31 kB Documents

    7091 kB MIDP apps

    3733 kB SIS applications

    71 MB Other files

Can you tell me what these sections mean?... so that I will know if I need to delete them and then how do I find them in my phone so that I may delete them.

You can get an overview of memory usage by going to Menu>Tools>File manager;Then go into phone memory and select Options>Details to see a breakdown of where the memory is being used;

Highlight an individual file then select Options>Organise>Move to folder, you then select mass memory and choose the destination folder.

You can also move several files at once by using the Marking feature under Options>Marking/Unmark.

MIDP apps->MIDP is the Java runtime environment for today's most popular compact
mobile information devices, such as cell phones and mainstream PDAs.
    Remove items from other documents.
Doing the Hard reset "*#7370#" should clean all additional files along
side your personal data and then the device should be just as it was
    when you first got it.
    -Or-
if you have received MMS messages or Bluetooth messages, save
their content to memory card then delete the original messages
Then check if you have any images, sound files, video files etc. in
phone memory that can be moved to memory card. Also check in the
settings for things like the camera and voice recorder to make sure that
they are saving to memory card and not phone memory.
Have you installed any additional applications? If so, they could be
occupying space - try uninstalling them from the app manager then
    reinstallign some to memory card.
so if the above tips don't free up enough space, you might have to
backup your data using Ovi Suite then reformat the phone using the code
    *#7370#.

I'm having this problem in my nokia e5 : My memory

If the phone notifies you if the phone memory is getting low. To free phone memory you have the following options:
  • Move data that you want to keep to an alternative memory (mass memory or memory card, if available) or to a compatible computer.
  • Remove data you no longer need.
Use File Manager or the respective application in your phone to remove data or to move data to alternative memory as described in the user guide. Typically you first mark files to be removed or moved and then you select the corresponding option (Delete orMove to folder).

Use Nokia Ovi Suite to move data to a compatible computer.
In order to free phone memory, you could remove or move the following:
  • Messages from Inbox, Drafts and Sent folders in Messaging
  • Retrieved e-mail messages from the phone memory
  • Saved Web pages. Clear the web browser cache to free some phone memory (e.g. select Options > Clear privacy data >Cache).
  • Saved images, videos, or sound files (in Gallery, Photos,Videos or Music player)
  • Contact information (in Contacts)
  • Calendar notes (in Calendar)
  • Downloaded application packages
  • If there are applications which are not needed any more, uninstall them with Application Manager
  • Any other data that you no longer need
If you are deleting multiple items and any of the following notes are shown: Not enough memory to perform operation. Delete some data first or Memory low. Delete some data, try deleting items one by one (starting from the smallest item). After deleting data, restart (power off/on) your phone.
Tips: Use the memory card or mass memory instead of phone memory in the Camera or other applicable applications in case the selection is available (e.g. via Options > Settings >Memory in use).

I hope this helps!!

Memory low. Delete or move some data from C: Phone memory?

Good day. Never use phone memory as alternative storage for any files, coz this is the reason why some phone cannot stand on its perfect condition, naturally this will end up hang or get freeze. Always use your extra memory inserted to your phone. Thanks

Hi,

This flashing envelope icon is telling you that your text message storage is full.

1. Go to Messages
2. Select Options
3. Then select SIM messages
4. Select and delete all SIM messages.

This should do it.

All the best!
