I have a WD Elements 1 TB hard drive but i can copy and paste on to the hard drive ,my computer is a Mac Pro

Check to make sure the Hard Drive isn't formated as NTFS if so you won't be able to modify files on the drive without a third party application such as Tuxera NTFS for Mac or NTFS for Mac OS X

I have a WD my book essentials 1.5tb usb HD. It says I have only 256 gb backed up but 1.1 tb of "other files" and is 98% full. Why is this?

How big is the WD Drive? It sounds like it is a 1.5 Tb Drive. If that is the case then it is reading correct. There are 256 GB of backed up system files which is mostly Windows and it backed up 1.1 Tb of Miscellaneous files which could be other non Windows Programs, saved files and internet junk.

WD Element 1 TB on Windows 98SE system

You can NOT access 1TB under Win 98SE, It is unable to "Address" that much memory, it is simply mathematically impossible. You have to upgrade to a system that CAN address that much memory, such as a 32 Bit system. better still a 64 bit system.

My wd elements hard drive of 1 terabyte will not turn on

Hi,

Usually if this happens it's either a dead AC adapter or a failed circuit board inside. If you have nothing crucial on the drive take it back to the store you bought it from or contact Western Digital for warranty.

If you do have crucial files and don't want to loose them by simply warrantying the drive, take it to your local PC store and void your warranty by having the techs there move you hard drive into a new enclosure for testing. If it works in the new enclosure buy it and be on your way. If it doesn't your problems are more severe and will require some specialized assistance from a Data Recovery Pro. If this is the case ask the techs to place the HDD in a anti-static bag then reply to me with your Country, State, City and I will refer you to a nearby Pro who can access your files and save them for you.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Chris

NO, they are not all multivoltage. Especially if you bough *** in the states as a 110v. You will need to have an external voltage adaptor in use.
