Open the door and remove the 3 screws or so up each side of the door, this will remove the front panel and give access to the dispenser. Then remove the wires and remove the 6 or so screws holding the dispenser in place and replace with new 1. You will be able to get a new 1 from an online spares provider. They are not that expensive. Hope this helps

The soap dispenser door will not open during the washing cycle. What could be my problem? I have a Lg dishwasher model #ldf7561st

If you don't want to disassemble the dispenser to replace a part, you can replace the entire dispenser. Additionally, if the dispenser isn't working and the entire dispenser is worn out, replace the dispenser.

Troubleshooting

Dispenser Lever

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the dispenser lever might need to be replaced.

Detergent Dispenser Cover

If the detergent dispenser cover is broken and the detergent dispenser doesn't work, the dispenser assembly should be replaced.

Wax Motor Actuator

If the dispenser will not release the detergent the actuator connected between the wax motor and the dispenser might be broken. Check the wax motor actuator and replace it if necessary.

Dispenser Lid

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the dispenser lid may have to be replaced.

Detergent Dispenser

If the dishwasher dispenser doesn't work the problem is often related to the release mechanism. If the problem is with the dispenser itself, it may be easier to replace the entire dispenser.

Dispenser Door Spring

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open during the wash cycle the dispenser door spring may have to be replaced.

Dispenser Latch

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the dispenser door latch may have to be replaced.

Dispenser Door Pin

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the dispenser door pin may have to be replaced.

Dispenser Actuator

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the dispenser actuator may have to be replaced.

Dispenser

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the entire dispenser assembly may have to be replaced.

Wax Motor

There is an electrically powered device called a wax motor which opens the detergent dispenser. If the dispenser is broken and will not open to release the detergent, the wax motor might need to be replaced.

Bi-Metal

If the dishwasher dispenser doesn't work the bi-metal actuator might be burned out or defective. The bi-metal is a simple metal loop which acts as a latch for the dispenser door. As electricity is applied to the metal loop, the loop deforms and bends away from the latch, releasing it. If the bi-metal is burned out it won't deform or release the detergent door.

Dispenser Slide

If the dispenser is broken and doesn't open or close properly the dispenser slide may need to be replaced.

Dispenser Repair Kit

If the dispenser is broken this dispenser kit may need to be replaced.

Main Control Board

The main control board provides power to nearly every component of the dishwasher including the detergent dispenser. If the dispenser will not actuate the main control board might be defective. You should first check for more common parts. Many times control boards are replaced unnecessarily because the problem was not diagnosed properly.

How to test for power in the control panel

see this tips. God bless you
If your dispenser does not open First check to make sure it is thoroughly cleaned. Check the latching mechanism, does it appear to be latching? On some models there is a spring that breaks off. In that case you will need to replace the dispenser.

Next thing to check is to get the tech sheet out and see if the dispenser opens at the pre determined time. If it does not you will need to remove the front panel and maybe the console cover depending on the model. Then you will need to see if the wax motor that opens the dispenser has continuity. The tech sheet might also have the Ohm reading that the wax motor should have. Depending on model it is somewher between 600- 2800 ohms. If it has no continuity or is out of range replace the wax motor. Follow the Dispenser Replacement tutorial for replacing the wax motor. If the wax motor checks out good and the dispenser will not open, you will need to replace the main control board/ Timer follow this tutorial to replace the control.

The other type of dispenser is a mechanical style used on GE and many others. This type of dispenser has a little cam that breaks off. You will need to remove the front panel and maybe the console to access the mechanism, this part is sometimes available but you might need to replace the unit. The Dispenser replacement tutorial will walk you thru this.9_25_2012_6_43_59_am.jpg

Dishwasher dispenser will not open. I've been using the detergent tablets and am wondering if I should be using a liquid or powder instead?

Try starting a cycle without using detergent at all. If the dispenser opens, you just need to use powder detergent because the tablets are too big for the dispenser. If it still doesn't work, replace the dispenser. Go to the link to see how to take the door apart and replace the dispenser.

WATER DRIPPING IN DISPENSER TRAY DUE TO ICE MELTING AT FRONT OF DISPENSER

Hi Don,

Typically this occurs when the dispenser door does not close all the way.

The dispenser door is located in the freezer door in the chute that the ice dispenses down.

With the freezer door open shine a light up from the outside and look down into the door from the inside. If you see light around the door flapper, you will need to replace the dispenser door, if there is a large gap between the dispenser door and the chute you will need to replace the mechanism that controls the door.

I'm not sure if it can be repaired or not, but lowes carries the same dispenser that came with faucet. To replace unscrew bottle from under counter now you remove plastic nut that holds the body to counter and install new one.

Broken water actuator

Hi this is tech crazy
the solution to the problem is

You should be able to replace this part yourself. Follow these steps to replace the water actuator:
  1. Unplug the refrigerator to completely disconnect electrical power. Turn off the water supply to the refrigerator.
  2. Remove the drip tray (Key 23 in the image below) from the bottom of the dispenser.
  3. Remove the screws (Key 43) from the bottom of the dispenser module cover (Key 4). NOTE: You model may not have screws at the bottom of the dispenser cover. If not, push down on the top of the dispenser cover and pry out on the bottom of the cover with a flat tip screw driver to remove it.
  4. Pull to dispenser module cover up to release the top clips and remove this cover and set it aside.
  5. Remove the screws (Key 17) that are on each side of the dispenser module (Key 8).
  6. Carefully pull the dispenser module out slightly from the door. It will have wires attached. Pay attention to how the water tube and the ice door assembly are positioned. Pull this module out far enough to remove and replace your water actuator (Key 24).
Reverse the above process for reassembly.

I have a DW12-PFE2-2 the dishwasher tablet does not dissolve,it is still in the dishwasher detergent dispenser after wash has finished?

HI Accumulated detergent from prior washings can cause problems with the soap dispenser. Buildup can get into the soap dispenser and interfere with the spring that triggers the flip-out tray, or it can slow down the pivot action of the tray. If the dispenser is not opening, first make sure you aren't loading the machine so dishes or pots and pans are touching the dispenser, and that dish racks aren't blocking the dispenser. Also check to make sure the dispenser tray isn't cracked. If leftover detergent in the tray is almost liquid, rather than just damp, the tray may be damaged.
If you can't solve the problem easily, replace the entire dispenser unit. This is usually easier than trying to disassemble it and replace separate parts. Use a new dispenser made for the dishwasher. The screws holding the dispenser in place may be on the front of the unit, or you may have to remove the front door panel to get to the screws and make the replacement. Remove the old dispenser and secure the new one, connecting it in the same way the old unit was attached.

Removing the detergent dispenser

I have the same problem--mine is about 10 years old. To disassemble, looks like you will need to disassemble the complete door--screws around the inside edge of the door. At that price for a replacement dispenser, I will either try to fix or replace the blue arm, or replace the dishwasher. I don't believe its worth putting that kind of money in an old dishwasher.
