Please look under the machine and the drive mechanism will be seen fully. You can see the pulley and the motor assembly from which the slack of the belt can be noted, if this is more you can remove and SLID in a new belt of the size into the pulley.

How do I remove the metal case of my sewing machine so I can replace a belt?

A: You asked, "How do I remove the metal case of my sewing machine so i can replace a belt?" Without the specific Make and Model number it is impossible to give a specific answer, so with such a general question you can only get a general answer regarding Metal-Case machines (since that is the only information you provided in your question).
Many Metal-Case sewing machines usually have either:
    (A) External Motors and External Drive-Belts, changing the belt is easy and intuitive.
    (B) Internal Motors that are Internal Direct-Drive and have no Drive-Belts to change or adjust.
    (C) Internal Motors and Internal Belt-Driven Hand-Wheels, and this is what I assume you have. To change the belt:
    (1) Unplug the machine.
    (2) Remove the Top-Panel (usually 2 or 3 screws need removal). Some machines (very few) have a pry-off top that has no screws, just internal spring-clips that hold onto nubbins under the lid.
    (3) Remove the Left Side-Panel that fits around and under the Hand-Wheel (if it has a side panel; and it may be plastic, there should be 1 or 2 slot-head screws holding it in place. If it just has 1 screw it is generally centrally located; if 2, one may be high and the other low. A few machines also have interlocking tabs that fit into the body, that must be un-puzzeled to remove.
    (4) Loosen the motor Drive-Belt Pulley to remove the old belt (it is usually a slotted set-screw or a small Allen Wrench (Hex).
If there is a Part Number on the old belt, use, or measure the old belt and/or use the Part Number to help match it to a new belt. If you have a manual, it may show the Drive-Belt Part Number; there are also Parts Lists for many machines. Less expensive generic parts are often just as good, as long as they are of the correct size, configuration and installed properly. Avoid the rubber-band type giant O-Rings to Drive machines, Belts are better *.
    (5) Replace the new Drive-Belt and Drive-Belt Pulley, adjusting the belt tension so the motor can reach full speed without laboring. "A Twee-Bit Too-Loose" is better than being "Too-Tight"., but best to be just right, that is to allow the belt to deflect a little if pressed in the middle, yet tight enough so there is no slippage. A lugged belt (often Orange color, but sometimes Black) makes it much easier, since there is no slippage due to the lugs, and it can allow the machine to turn easier (with less resistance than * tight O-ring Drive-Belts) to sew better with less motor- bushing wear). "Assembly" is the reverse of "Disassembly".
    Sincerely,
    -- Amender (2016 FEB 23)

Changing a belt on a washing machine

There is no belt on this machine.
It uses a direct drive coupling between the motor and transmission.
Ope the control console, then remove the cabinet clips to remove the cabinet for access to the motor.
Remove the motor then remove the broken drive coupling(3 parts).
Replace the part and re-assemble the washer.

Why won't the Kenmore top loading washing machine agitate?

There are two types of Kenmore top loading washing machines. The direct drive models and the belt drive models. Direct drive models do not have a back access panel and the water inlet valve is located on the left side viewed from the rear while belt drive models do have back access panel and the water inlet valve is located on the right side viewed from the rear.

The most common problem causing a top loading machine not to agitate, particularly when the motor seems running, is a broken motor coupler for direct drive models and a broken or worn out drive belt for belt drive models.

The best way to exactly determine the cause is to access the drive motor. Open the back access panel for belt drive models and check the drive belt. Check the drive motor if it is running, humming or stuck.

Please indicate the model number of the washing machine if it is a direct drive model for the procedure in accessing drive motor.

I need to replace the belt on my Miele washing machine. Can you tell me how to do it?

Open the washing machine's back access panel.Depending on the make and model of your washing machine, you may need a screwdriver to unscrew the screws that hold the panel up.Locate the washing machine's drive belt.It will be in clear view, detach the old drive belt.Use the screwdriver to unscrew the pump coupling. Then gently slide the old belt off of the drive belt notch. If the belt is broken,be careful not to leave any pieces in the washing machine's interior. Slide the new washing machine drive belt over the drive belt pulley in the machine.Carefully stretch the belt up and over the second pulley before releasing.Use the screwdriver to re-attach the pump coupling.Test the drive belt's tension. If it is looser, tighten the pulleys to increase the belt's tension.Replace the access panel and resume using your washing machine.

Hi If the Dyson has a brush protected switch on the left hand side of the machine, then it has a drive belt that can only be replaced by a serviceman or Dyson repairer. If the Dyson doesn't have brush protection, then pop open the sole plate and change the drive belt.
