Question about Computers & Internet

I have an Evesham recovery CD for a Windows ME system. I have ditched the old PC, but would like to resurrect the ME on a legacy laptop I have. I don't want to screw up the laptop. Will the recovery CD work on a different machine from the original?

It may, but you will have to download the correct drivers for the laptop.

Havent got disc for evesham laptop how can i get it back to factory settings is there another way

You an just re-install Windows, BUT you need a Windows installation CD and the matching product installation code. The Windows product installation code is printed on the Windows label on the bottom of the laptop. You also need to install the device drivers for this model laptop. You can download them from the laptop manufacturer's WEB site.

I have an Evesham Evolution desktop with Windows XP SP2 product recovery disc. I want to reformat the drives and carry out full "clean" install and reload all software. I insert the recovery...

It sound like you have a recovery disk not an install disk. The recovery disk you have just lets you repair windows only. If you insert the disk after windows starts and it runs you can then try to back up what you want and delete what you don't want, then run a windows repair. Its the only option, My other suggestion is to purchase Windows 7 and do a clean install.

I would like to know if my evesham pc has recovery/reload as it came preloaded when purchased? i am unsure of the model as i have misplaced the manual.

You can try pressing the F12 key and see if it gives you the option to boot from the recovery partition. If you are unable to boot from recovery partition or if there is no recovery partition, you will need to purchase recovery CD's. Good luck. I hope this helps. Have a good day.

Have corruption on display monitor which clears when computer has warmed up, running windows xp and have the latest legacy drivers & catalyst control center.

"legacy" means =old version, so the "latest legacy" wont work--try the latest driver from the graphic card manufacturers website

How to use recovery dvd

If you could give the model number of the laptop, it would help better understand the problem.
If the laptops hardware is not build to support windows 98 you might not be able to install. The windows 98 cd that you are using , is it reatail copy,or did you get the cd with some old computer.
