Question about Cameras
Depending on what operating system you have there may be an imaging program already on your computer. Failing this the most universal way is to purchase PhotoShop Elements and a memory card reader. I've also seen some printers that do direct printing have memory card slots this can be a work around as well.
PhotoShop Elements (I'm using Elements 5) has most all basic imaging tools and a card reader which is capable of reading multiple different memory cards and you are on your way.
Nice thing about this is it doesn't mater if you change cameras you don't need to install the camera software. PhotoShop programing and the card reader also eliminate the compatibility issues resulting from camera software and the actual camera firmware.
The computer PC or Mac looks at the card readers as an external mass storage devices and you can import your picture files to "My Documents" by creating a folder to put them in.
