Question about Sonnet FUSION D400Q (FUSD4Q2TB) 500 GB Hard Drive Array

Open Question

All 4 drives are failing to mount, the green lights come on but no sign of their blue lights on start up. I have taken the drives out, re-inserted them, swapped cables but no change.

Is this a new unsetup system? Have you used this successfully in the past? Have you set up the disks via windows > manage > storage > disk management > partitioned > formatted > and made the disks active?

I've been using this set up for 2 to 3 years, they were working fine until about 2 hours ago

Lacie Case Only lighting up when HD is disconnected

I had the same problem with a 1TB hard drive. The fault was caused by the casing being knocked from the computer and falling onto the desk. If the hard drive hadn't been powered up it would have been ok...
I removed the hard drive from the casing and fitted it into my computer as a slave drive, hoping to access all the music and movies stored in it. No go .. But, it's worth you fitting your hard drive as a slave and trying the same. It's worth a shot.
I took the hard drive to a computer market here in China, where I work. These guys take hard drives apart to fix them, if possible. They couldn't fix my hard drive as it had been powered on when it fell ..
However, I bought a new desktop hard drive and they were able to transfer 95% of all things from the old hard drive to the new one. The cost of transferring from the old hard drive to the new hard drive was the same as the price of the new hard drive. That specialist service doesn't come cheap ... but it can be done. I paid simply because I didn't want to lose what had taken more than a year to download.
Try fitting your hard drive as a slave to see if you can access the information on it. If not, a new hard drive and the cost of transferring your music from your old hard drive may be the only course of action left open to you

... no drive motor sound

No drive motor means that either the motor is dead or the interface inside the case has failed. Take out the hard disk and put it directly in a desktop - if it fails even there then it's truly dead , junk it.

Light does not come on in the ceiling fan

"from the ceiling fan we have black, blue, and white. On the mounting bracket is green. We installed black and blue from the fan motor to the black in the ceiling."

If your fan is working and the light isn't and they are tied to the same wire (black wire), then you might have a bad pull chain switch or bulb.

Drive won't mount

Hi,

The Blue and Red lights generally indicate a harware failure. If the failure is power supply or enclosure you can simply solve the issue by taking your drive to a PC shop and having the techs there remove the hard drive inside it and move the hard drive into a new enclosure. Once in the new enclosure have them test it to see if it works. If it does buy the enclosure and be back to your business, if that fails you will need the help of a data recovery pro to retrieve your data(assuming there's anything worth saving). If this is the case, the transfer fails and you need your data back, reply with your location(Country, State and City) and I will be happy to direct you to an appropriate facility to have your data recovered.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Chris

WD 500GB MyBook stopped mounting on MacBook Pro

Have you tried it in another computer? I think these kind of problems can sometimes be caused by USB voltage problems, especially if your MBP has an old battery (I believe the battery is used as a power buffer to keep size of transformer down). If that doesn't work, see if you can find someone with the same HDD power supply and try switching that over. Failing that it's data recovery, you may be able to do this yourself by switching the actual hard drive into a new enclosure.
